TSWS: Hello! It is so great to speak with you!
Thanks for inviting me to interview!
TSWS: You are releasing a lot of new work the rest of the month! Can you let us know what all you have coming up?
Yeah! I am so excited for my new music. My band name is Kendra & the Bunnies, and we just released our newest single "So Hollywood". It is out on all streaming platforms now! The music video for the track will be debuting on Friday 5/21 on all my social media channels and YouTube. Then on Friday, May 28, my entire new album drops! I also have new stuff out in July! I am so thrilled about all these projects. The new album is 1970's meets '90s alt groove pop rock.
It is such a heartwarming feeling to have listeners across the globe listening to my music. It is what I have always dreamed of... to be able to shine my spirit for everyone to see.I have put so much time and effort into my music, performance, and songwriting. It's pretty much my everything. I appreciate the fact too that I am inspiring others to live their best lives as well.
TSWS: Do you remember when you first knew music is what you wanted to do as a career?
I always knew that I was a performer. I started in musical theatre as an actress, singer, and dancer. Then when I discovered rock 'n roll and poetry in my teenage years, I knew it was something that would become a huge part of my life. The specific moment that I decided to do music was over a period of time. I toyed with the idea in my head, because I knew how much motivation it would take to succeed. The time I actually chose to launch as a singer/songwriter was after seeing a sign while on a walk at Buffalo Bayou Park in Houston, TX. I was talking to my mom about what I wanted to do with my future, and right then, I saw the number 27 graffitied on the path. That spoke to me, as many of my favorite artists are part of the '27 club'.
TSWS: Did you grow up in a musically inclined family?
My older brother loves music very much. He keeps his collection of physical albums and CDs in labeled binders and is super meticulous about each genre's sound. That always fascinated me. My brother also introduced me to a lot of my favorite groups today like "Animal Collective" and "Neutral Milk Hotel".My grandma was also a songwriter too. She played the piano and sang. After she passed away, I received a big box of all of her songwriting journals. I also have her piano keyboard too that I play from time to time.
TSWS: Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
The Grateful Dead, early Britney Spears, early Paramore, Animal Collective, Syd Barrett, Led Zeppelin, Fiona Apple, edgy Taylor Swift, and Phish.
TSWS: I am going to ask you some this or that questions for readers to get to know a bit about you!
