AHM Are Back with A Massive New Release
AHM returns with another massive single release that boasts incredibly spacious tonalities and engulfing tendencies with brutally performed and fierce approaches, doom-toned, and alternative rock-riddled sounds that absolutely convey a unique feel while bringing together that post-hardcore, hardcore, progressive metal sort of aesthetic.
This new single wastes no time coming right in with these spacious but augmented chords, delivering cinematic lushness and a great deal of intensity, showcasing the group's knack for creating blistering tones while also focusing on melody.
It's almost alarming.
Right off the bat, you can hear the classic hardcore inspirations and influences coming through, but they also breed a different style within that.
The beginning of the song is huge and almost nightmarish, thriving with that same intensity I mentioned earlier, and closed-fisted. Later, this breaks into rolling snares and a post-rock feel, melodic vocals, and this great change in progressions that really lead right back into the initial section of the song incredibly well.
This track hits hard but also has a bit of an elegant underbelly to it. It's subtle but you hear it in different sections of the songs. This is a perfect example of how they create songs that feel like they're alive and breathing.
You start off with a giant section that has mass edginess, and then it sort of exhales back down to the verses where you get the vocals and the more calm elements of the song, so you can pay attention to the lyrics and soak everything in.
This, of course, brings us back to the explosive main revs and progressions that it started off with, the dark overtones and the full-bodied hard alt-rock sound.
One of my favorite parts about this track is the breakdown section.
You get an amazing breakdown section where everything gets quiet, and things slowly build. This is a very whispering kind of element where you have string synth pads and vocals that slowly grow.
You have an almost haunted feeling, harmonies, backing vocals that drift behind everything, and the drumming lightens up but still has a great edginess to it.
After this section, it explodes once more back into the main riff, and at this point, it's full throttle.
This was an immense track, especially in terms of its Sonic presence and drive. There's almost nothing like it because it sort of surrounds you and then swallows you up.
The vastness and relentlessness of the track, along with its swaggering energy levels, is all amazing, and you can tell that although the performances are outstanding and pretty flawless, a lot of the actual work goes into the arrangement of the song and letting it feel alive.
These guys have a sort of doom-hardcore, alternative rock style feel with little hints of shoegaze and more, but all in all, they really create their own atmosphere, and this track is definitely one of their best examples of it.
I would not skip this one over.
It's 7 minutes of escapism, blended with a dark but fantastical kind of undertone.
Check this one out right now.
