A Warming Release From Alexander Joseph
A new release from Alexander Joseph brings out a very warm and contemporary soundscape that bears a lot of honesty and such a vividly descriptive approach that it's very hard to turn away from.
"Guiding Star" has an air of cinematic undertone to it and there is such a certain level of character to it that you get drawn in very quickly and the whole thing becomes very infectious.
The track's chorus is the sort of thing that bounces around in your head for hours after the song has ended and you do get this strong sense of persona coming from the song which makes things feel both out of a storybook, but also genuine and authentic at the same time.
You definitely understand that this came from something or someplace real and that sort of emotional drive is what probably birthed the song in the first place and throughout it all, that heart is still beating live and Loud throughout the song's course.
Vocally this track is sort of soothing and calming and there are sections where he does vocal harmonies that fill the ether of the track and it really helps it build an atmosphere that you can get washed away with.
This feels great and it's something you can dive into and swim through as it has disconnected value to it in a way.
It's like it was almost meant for you yourself.
It's got a sort of metaphoric relatability that lets you become attached to it and once you let that happen, you just flow right along with it and certain emotions and feelings pop up within yourself along with memories.
So this is one of those tracks that makes you think about your own life which is wonderful because a lot of music doesn't do that anymore and when you come across something that does, it's very very refreshing.
This track indeed keeps to that overall warmth and its backbone comes from being able to take a certain notion like letting someone else be your guiding star, and weaving it into song.
In a way, it feels like the song may have even been cathartic for the artist.
I know it might have been for me if I had written it.
One of the things I love about this track is its ability to have an almost anthemic chorus but still keep to this calming tonality so that it feels like floating on waves.
This track definitely delivered a lot of heart and was performed with just the right balance of passion and Persona to be able to have it come through exactly the way it was meant to.
It does indeed have that level of impact to it that makes you want to listen to it again.
Alexander Joseph has a great library of material on Spotify and if you like this track, I can almost guarantee you're going to like a lot of his other material so I would start here, and then go back through that catalog to really get a feel for the artist.
Enjoy.
