Aluminum Boys Drop A Colorful New Single
A recent single release from Aluminum Boys brings out a refreshing combination of pop rock, indie pop, and a little bit of that 90s alternative undertone. What really grabs you is the sort of character and personality that leaps out of this song along with this semi-cinematic backbone that blends a little color and edginess together.
"Common Pleas" is an endlessly fun track that comes in with a great groove and a beat that is what beckons most of that 90s underbelly but this is something I enjoy because I grew up in a certain time. Where this kind of old pop was really popular and there are elements about this track including some of the synths and keys that bring in textures that help nail that aesthetic.
Having said all that, this track is super fun and danceable but it also comes with this great spirited performance that leaves a mark and it's really the blending of the genres and instrumentation that lets this track shine.
There are some great guitar sections here and the sonic drive of those is light-hearted which the whole track actually is, but those guitar tones also bring on that bountiful and lush sort of colorful approach and soundscape.
This is very radio-friendly and feels influenced by some of the pop bands from the early 2000s like MGMT for example.
As the track unfolds you start to get more instrumentation bringing on an array of textures and layers that create an atmosphere that is absolutely lovely and addictive. Horns start coming in towards the end and it's this beautiful combination of all of those sounds that lend a hand to the warmth that the song delivers.
The vocals are very well done and the final piece of the puzzle if you asked me. This is a big track and there's a lot going on throughout its unraveling and the vocals take on catchy melodies and a certain kind of indie-riddled swagger and personality that you end up really getting addicted to.
The entire song is super infectious and pop-coated from beginning to end but there are some surprises around those corners that really take you back. I loved how they were able to create a song that crosses over that old and new school songwriting approach and also has a whole lot of heart.
I have been missing songs that boast personality the way that this one does. I feel like it's a really integral piece of having a staple feel as a band or an artist and Aluminum Boys nailed this down and let their presence shine throughout the song.
This is most certainly for anyone who loves classic alt or indie pop music but also pop rock and indie rock because this track definitely covers all of those bases and does it with a unique approach.
You can tell by listening to this track that they had a blast laying it down and there is this great attitude that it gives off which again, feels very spirited and welcoming.
A lot of thought went behind the creation of the song in terms of the tones that were used for the guitars, the keys and synths, and those beats. The vocals have an outstanding way of layering another texture on top of all of that which certainly builds the soundscape you can get engulfed in and by the end, washed away with.
I enjoyed jamming this track and can't wait to hear what else these guys put out next because this is the kind of song that speaks volumes for a project like this one.
I hope to hear more like this in the near future and will be definitely keeping my eye out for it.
Have a listen to this semi-nostalgic, warm, charismatic, and vibrant pop rock and Indie pop combination of a single and see how it affects you.
