A new EP release from Amelina delivers a pop-rock soiree, packed with character and a great attitude meant for the holidays to lift spirits, and in doing so, she combines some amazing renditions of Christmas classics, along with some original songs that showcase her personality and presence as an artist and songwriter.

The Season of Joy EP kicks things off with an absolute classic, " Rocking Around the Christmas Tree", which is an amazing job of introducing the EP because it comes through with this spirited warmth and inviting tonality, complete without stand-out guitar work that replicates The Originals and gives things a little bit of an energized approach.

It's this track that really introduces you to the record with such a gusto and vivacious approach that you know the rest of it's going to be good.

On this single alone, you're going to hear some of the best Staples that the entire record produces, but having said that, this is an EP you want to listen to from start to finish simply because there are some surprises around its corners.

"Run Run Rudolph", for example, introduces these amazing horn sections that give off a lush and orchestrated feel, delivering an impactful and vibrant rendition of this classic, youthfully approached and with an amazing blend of color and edginess.

This was a great cover of a song that I personally have always grown up loving, especially this time of year.

"A New Year's Wish" is the first original track introduced in the record, and this showcases such amazing character and gives you hints to the artist's growing persona.

This song has a particular kind of warmth to it, blending elements of jazz along with classic rock, pop, and more.

At this point in the record, you can hear a slew of influences under her belt that she really holds dear to her heart and utilizes in her songwriting and performance.

"Dreamer" is a more personal track as well and shows a different side of her. She digs a little deep on this one, but it's so relatable, and the way she puts it lyrically, it comes through in a very connective manner. A lot of us can understand exactly where she's coming from, and the whole thing just beckons a youthful and honest approach.

Has the record unfolds, you have a lot to chew on. The tones of the guitars and the performances as well are outstanding. You can tell that Amelina has a real love for the instrument and certainly must have had a hand in the outcome of the record, and was able to really balance all the personality and contemporary aspects with the pop and rock overtones.

It's a release that gets a little edgy when she wants to, feels a little truthful when she wants to go there, but all in all, really delivers something that you remember. It's a memorable release, and this is here for us right now, at the perfect time of year.

We are all still feeling the holidays along with the ups and downs that come along with them, so this release covers all of that ground perfectly in a musical sense.

Probably one of the more experimental and surprising 'DJ Play a Christmas song", which comes through as an electronic and robust single with vast synth pads used in its underbelly to give that spacious and Atmospheric feel come along with edgier keys on the forefront, so that you have a really heavy-hitting drive as well.

This one was kind of cinematic to me, and I love that she took this completely different direction on this particular track. It was definitely experimental, but worked amazingly because she still delivers these memorable melodies and hooks the route

It was just fun to hear her going in an electronic direction, and it sits in a pretty much perfect spot on the record as well.

The entire EP is quite eclectic or diverse, I should say. There aren't any two songs that are exactly alike; each track takes its own course and showcases more of her different influences and styles, but it always has this great pop overtone, no matter what.

This is a pop record set for the holidays, meant to lift your spirits but also give some insight into who the artist is as a person.

The closing track, "Happy New Year", is one that dicks to that sort of dance pop, house come and electronic vibe as well, but with a different sort of brightness to it.

To me, this is more colorful and less driving, danceable, and completely fun.

All in all, this was a release that included plenty of genres but also let you know that Amelina can cover classics, take whatever direction she wants, and still make it work and sound completely cohesive.

This was an outstanding release that definitely lifted my spirits a bit, and the whole thing was endlessly fun.

While you're enjoying your holiday, check this EP out so you can see exactly where I'm coming from.
