ANDI's New Album Dives Into Love and Delivers A Pop Infused Sound
A brand-new album release from ANDI brings out a unique set of flavors and textures that come together to create this very pop-coated approach, and a lot of it has a theatrical sensation about it. There's something very big and almost animated about the entire record, and it feels like it could have been used as the score to a film.
Still Believe in Love is an album that showcases a love not just for songwriting, but for performance. Everything has this gorgeous energy and sort of polish to it. I love that it gets as intense as it does while never really letting go of that pop sensibility, giving songs well-rounded but authentic soundscapes.
The record opens up with the track called "The Love That I Want," and right off the bat, you're getting some really clean, crisp, colorful vocal hooks left and right. You can tell this is an artist who really enjoys delivering melody and doing it in a way that feels spirited.
In that sense, it's a very addictive record.
There's some great guitar work here, clean and distorted, and the record does have a great rock backbone more than half of the time, but it is definitely cushioned by this really warm set of tonalities that sort of hug you.
I think part of that has to do with the fact that the record is, indeed, about love.
It doesn't really hold back in terms of lyrics or walls built around it. It is completely freeing, and because of that, it feels good to listen to. That aspect of the record is almost infectious and happens right from the start. This very first song already starts delivering that warmth and almost inviting feeling.
There's a lot about the lyrics across the record that say things you want to say. He digs into lyrics as if they were his thoughts, just unfiltered, coming right out.
This makes the record most enjoyable, but it also makes it relatable. You can connect with a lot of what he's saying because, again, a lot of us have felt certain things or thought certain things that are strewn across this record, but don't really know how to articulate those into words, let alone words and music.
This is part of why the record is so good. It digs into those inner thoughts and just lets them all out.
"Stranger in the Mirror" is an example of a track that feels probably the most theatrical out of all of them. It's got great keys and synths that fill the space and give it a real drive, but also deliver this sort of particular sonic flow as well.
The vocals are intense, but again, they almost always are. He's got a very unique approach to singing, and that energy level and the amount of passion that comes through while he's performing seeps into the record beautifully.
This is part of why you can tell a lot of this is coming from a genuine place.
Again, he's being honest, singing about things that he wants to, putting it in ways that you can understand, and not setting boundaries around them. It's a bit of a boundless record, and it's also surprising.
"Fine Without You" delivers some of that almost ballad-style rock backbone, but with a bit of a faster pace than normal. This is also a personal track, but it takes different aim. I enjoy the fact that he's peeling back all of these layers and giving us loads of personality along the way.
I feel like that's what these kinds of records are all about. Delivering character. There's so much of that across this album that you feel like you know this person better by the end of it.
Listening to the record is almost like sitting down with a friend and getting stories.
There are a range of emotions that are portrayed throughout the record, and all of them are associated with love in general. Love comes with that massive range of emotion, of course.
I think he does an amazing job of displaying all of that and sort of wrapping it up nicely.
"Blow Me Away" has a bit of a different feel as well. This one has more of a straight-up pop kind of vibe, blended with hints of R&B and contemporary undertones.
Again, he opens the song right up with something bold. He comes in swinging in terms of those lyrics, and again, it's pretty intense at times.
It's also most admirable because he's obviously using his music to send a message and get things off of his chest. He's excited, and that comes through on a lot of songs throughout the record's unfolding.
This is obviously an album you should listen to all the way through, as you get loads of that thick character along the way, along with plenty of heart.
This is a 12-song album, and it feels almost like a concept album would. It might actually be a concept album.
I think some people will think of it this way, while others may just take songs at face value.
Either way, don't miss out on this borderline brilliant pop release, as it really crosses genres and builds something refreshing along the way.
Dig into this now and see what it does for you.
