A New Single From Aryel Moon Is Here

There's a new single out from Aryel Moon, and it has such a great and driving alternative pop-rock style to it that beckons hints of '90s grunge and heavier rock at times, with addictive vocals and backing vocals that come in as sort of callbacks to the main ones which sort of exemplifies how this band can create a particular kind of aesthetic that does boast hints of nostalgia for some listeners, going back to that 90s grunge and alternative rock sound, but also building it in a way that creates layers.

"A Little Bit Closer" displays some amazing guitar tone that really takes the cake in terms of nailing down the grunge feel, and the percussion or drumming really is outstanding because of its time signature. It's got that driving time signature where it's unique with its snare drum, and this also gives me that same kind of feeling. The feeling of bands like Hole or even certain riot-rock kinds of bands like L7, for example.

Now, this is not right. Again, this is grunge and alternative rock, but it does have a sort of pop-ish overtone to it that makes it catchy in a sense. It's got a little bit of color to it, but a lot of edginess as well. The vocals are really the thing that brings out that character and attitude.

Donatella Camedda delivers both vocals and guitars and serves as the songwriter for the band as well, and you can really tell that this track came from some genuine place.

You do find yourself paying attention to the lyrics and can't tell that it is a bit of a personal story, but that gives it a certain vibe. I love the feel of the heavy guitars with the driving drums while still delivering a sort of smoothness to it all, and it's underbelly.

During certain sections of the song, you have a few different layers of guitars. The guitar work across this song is insane. It's not over the top in any way; it's just smartly done.

There's a little bit of experimental fun happening. For example, certain parts of this song have a layer of tremolo guitar that comes in, sending this sort of wave of sonic presence, but in a different texture. I love what this adds to the track because you just don't expect it. It works perfectly with how the vocals come across because during those sections, it's a single vocal Track, and you really are getting a lot from the lyrics, so that open chord tremolo guitar really lets you get into that specific atmosphere at that time.

Certain heavy rock elements also come in with those background vocals. Background vocals that bounce off of each other in different ways. The background vocals have layers to them in harmonies, and those come in with a grungier attitude, almost like riot-rock used to be.

So, in listening to this track, I can definitely hear a slew of influences that come into play from the way the vocals are performed and the way the guitar tones are done.

There are certain songs that you listen to, and you automatically know that there was a lot of attention paid to the tonalities of the instruments involved.

This is absolutely one of them. There was a vision in mind for this track, and it came through perfectly. The drumming is a key element in how this song comes across because that beat is unique and helps the song move forward in a particular fashion.

This was, for me, nostalgic, as I mentioned earlier. I grew up listening to all kinds of alternative and grunge, female-fronted rock bands, and this hit that sweet spot aesthetically for me.

I absolutely wrapped my arms around this and hugged it in a sense. I loved the way it made me feel because those classic influences are captured so well during this track that I never wanted it to end.

So, this is a brand new track out today, and the band has some shows coming up as well, so they are performing live, and this is important because when you listen to this song, you know that you want to go see them live.

They're going to have a really big sound in a live setting.

But they are based in Dublin, and I am not. As a matter of fact, I am personally quite far from it; however, if you are in the area, definitely check them out, and for me, listening to this track will keep me at bay. I certainly look forward to hearing more tracks from this band because they're awesome.

If you grew up listening to some great female-fronted alt and grunge bands and you're going to love this. Garbage, The Cranberries, Hole, PJ Harvey, anything like that.

This is for those of us who love this kind of style.

So, turn this up and dig in.
