Aryel Moon Deliver A Full EP

11391-welcome-home-final-cover-17637573891769.jpg

Dublin rock outfit Aryel Moon just released a full ep that brings together some of the best elements of having spacious underbellies and an almost cinematic backbone, with a grungy overtone that can be thrashing at times, giving the aesthetic of garage-punk, but also can be smooth, melodic, and engulfing at the same time.

This is an EP that showcases a band that absolutely brings together many influences to build a soundscape that has very few walls built around it, so that it has a sense of freedom behind it.

There are no two tracks exactly alike, and by the time you get a few songs in, you begin to expect the unexpected, which is something I idolize.

The record starts with "little bit closer", which absolutely showcases some Persona. She gets you pulled in lyrically because you can tell it's coming from an authentic place, but it also brings together those slightly grungy overtones, with an alternative rock feel, and that slightly expansive soundscape so that you have something that wraps itself around you, and it's easy to get attached to.

This is a great track to open up the record with because not only you you getting some of the combinations that make this record special, like taking meaningful, almost delicate style vocals that are based more on melody than anything else, with an almost grunge guitar tone, layered and thick two guitars, performing the same thing but with different tones each, but you are also getting some of that character and persona coming right at you.

It's very melodically driving, but also has a bit of sonic drive behind it as well.

This is one of the songs that blends those things perfectly, while others focus a little bit more on the thrashier side of things, like "right inside me", which certainly boasts more of a garage, trashy, punk soundscape, wild and rambunctious, with a little bit of theatrical punch.

It's songs like this that give you the feel of a live performance. They have a way of putting you right there in front of them.

Then there are songs like "nevermind", which Express and give off a much more floating, dreamy, and spacious effect and soundscape. Songs like this pull you along with the lyrics and gorgeous performance vocally, passionately, a bit emotionally backed, and it all fits together so well somehow.

Like I said before, there are no two songs alike here. Each track has a specific sound to it, but the EP as a whole fits together insanely well.

It is confluent and consistent, while giving you a pretty diverse range of songwriting, tones, and waves of intensity.

"shame" is one of my favorites off this EP, and it's actually the last track on the record as well. This one has a certain kind of brightness to it. It's a song that gives off such a wonderful pop sensibility and lets you know that throughout it all, you're going to get all of these different versions of the band.

This one is pop-rock all the way through. It's got a great overlaying guitar hook, it's got this great depth to it because there's plenty of reverb effect on those guitars, the vocals are right up front and grab you, and the whole thing is catchy.

It's an upbeat track that feels great to listen to.

By the time you get to this last song, you've been through it all. The dreamy, the spacious, the thrashing, the garage, the grunge, the alternative, it's all been done throughout the course of this record, and you're finally here at the end of it all with a track that gives you the bright pop approach to close it all out.

Quite a brilliant set of songs and a record that does indeed deliver loads of that personality from start to finish.

This was super fun, very surprising at times, and genuine.

I think that's all you can ask for, really.

I suggest listening to this one all the way through. I can't express enough how listening to one or two tracks will not give you anywhere near the full spectrum of all five songs on this record.

You will be surprised at some of these, and there are a lot of memorable hooks and beautiful vocal performances that stick with you.

There's also plenty of edginess when it wants to go there. Don't forget this is technically like a grunge-style record, but again, it brings in so many other elements that you can't just call it one thing.

I would never call this record grunge alone. It embodies a ton of different approaches and genres, and again, this is why you listen to the whole thing.

So, check this out right now to see exactly what I mean.
