Astrid M & Ves Lilium Deliver A Danceable and Classic Pop Single

12413-unnamed-9-17775788981476.jpg

The new single from Astrid M and Ves Lilium manages to capture a classic '80s pop tonality, and with that comes bouts of nostalgia, deep-rooted grooves, and an insanely danceable aesthetic that will absolutely get your body moving.

This is a single that felt good to listen to. The synthesizers and keys used throughout the track back in those classic late '80s and early '90s soundscapes, and that whole feel is completely nailed from start to finish.

This song is absolutely colorful, bright, pop-riddled, and boasts some boisterous and also quite classic vocals that go right along with the style of the instrumentation.

The track is called "Keep On Moving", and that's exactly what it does to you. It gets you moving.

The way the track builds is quite brilliant because it starts a bit more stripped down. You have a little bit of synthesizer but mostly just beat, which is totally four on the floor and already gives you a great balance, and then vocals.

As the song unfolds, it starts to build and branch outward. You start hearing layered synths and keys just building and building, each one with a little bit of a different texture to it, and each one adding either a rhythmic pattern or a melodic hook.

Now, having said that, it's not over the top, but instead super well-balanced and very dynamically in sync.

Between the beat and these vintage synthesizers, along with her sort of robust vocals, I get the same vibe that I would when listening to classic Madonna songs.

It's the tones of everything that really wrap themselves around you and keep you right where they want to.

I also really dig some of the experimental side of things.  certain sections and synthesizers have delay effects on them that sort of fan out through the background of the track, and it adds a cool sort of spaciousness to the underbelly of it.

Even this element is very well balanced in terms of the song as a whole.

You can also hear some of the more experimental side of things at the very start of the track, where it's got some cool sort of decimated effects going on, along with some beeps that indicate a bit of a light-hearted element. It showcases how the song was produced with a semi-whimsical approach, not to be taken overly seriously, but instead to have a good time with.

The lyrics are about dancing as well. They're about feeling the music, being alone, and just doing your thing.

There's a certain element about the lyrics that lets them feel freeing, spirited, and alluring.

The track definitely has some drive behind it; the beat really provides a lot of that, but the vocals have some amazing energy, and between the production and the vocals, you get a kind of synergy that adds to the somewhat subtle but very sonically present vibe.

Along with the vintage tonality of the entire thing, it blends that color and hint of edginess super well, bringing out the dance-pop style it was meant to have. It's a track that feels like it could have been on the radio anywhere from the late 90s up to now.

I grew up in the eighties. When I listen to this song, I do actually feel nostalgic, because Astrid and Ves were able to capture something pretty special.

I'm sure they were probably just having fun, and that's part of why it's got that Carefree undertone. But it was actually produced very well.

This is the kind of track that you get ready for. Be ready to move your body.  If you're in the car, you'll be shaking your butt in your seat. If you're in the living room, move the couch back, and you'll be dancing around the place in no time flat.

I think their mission was fully accomplished.

Now, if you're not really familiar with Astrid M up to now, this is a great track to get introduced to; however, I can say she's got some pretty eclectic stuff. There's a record that came out last year called KEYS TO SECRET DOOR that is very theatrical, piano-driven, and really intense vocally.

So, this sort of shows you that she is an artist who is able to be emotionally vulnerable, present, and intense, but can also put songs out there that are just fun and feel good at the same time.

She's very diverse in that manner, and I would definitely check out that release along with some other ones in her back catalog on Spotify.

"Not A Fool" is also very well produced and has a completely different vibe from this new single and the EP release last year.

All of this is very well worth delving into.

So, check the stuff out, and you'll get a good feel for exactly where I'm coming from with it.
