A Heavy New Single from Black Dog Moon

A new single from Black Dog Moon certainly pays homage to classic metal bands that a lot of us grew up listening to. Still, they uniquely achieve this by incorporating vintage riffs and theatrical vocals, with a fresh approach, heavy crunch, and a drive that packs a hell of a punch.

Right off the bat, you get that heavy-handed classic riff and even guitar tone that comes right at you, and shining colors, breeding this arena rock and metal approach that speaks volumes for the band in general.

As soon as the song begins, you know exactly what you're in for, and you know it's going to be good.

"Neon Queen" is the track that comes in swinging for sure. The guitar work on this single alone is stellar. Not only do you have these gray classic and driving riffs that are performed with a heavy hand, but you also have some great lead work in there, too, which is something that classic metal calls for.

If you haven't noticed, over the years, some lead guitar stuff is taking a back seat, and a lot of heavier bands, and I've despised that. I love bands that are heavy and perform songs like this one and include that ripping lead because it serves as such a perfect bridge for the song and its arrangements anyway.

There are multiple sections where the guitars come in, at times it's just to add a few more extra notes, at others it shreds. But either way, you're getting an earful of heavy-handed rock, and it works amazingly.

This is one of those choruses that comes through powerfully. It's got a story to tell, and that closed-fisted and rebellious chorus is something that you become quite addicted to along the way. This track simply thrives on layers of amazing guitars, thrashing drums, and belting vocals.

Everything is in full force, at full power, at maximum volume, and it shows.

This, of course, includes the energy levels as well. The energy of the track is a huge aspect of why this works the way it does.

It puts you there in the moment, and that whole arena rock approach is a huge part of that.

Everyone in this band seems to feed off the other. They are a well-oiled machine, and you can tell by listening to the track that, not only do they have a real love for the genre of metal, but they also have a love for the craft of writing metal songs.

Again, this is sort of theatrical, so it takes you on a ride and a journey that is completely fun from start to finish.

During the verses, chords can ring out and the vocals give such an excellent performance, but during those courses, everything is super robust and full-bodied, coming through with high impact, massive energy, and layers.

They certainly didn't hold back in the way of coming together to create a song that feels alive.

I grew up listening to a lot of Iron Maiden and loads of other classic metal bands, which was a huge part of life in the '80s and '90s.

Black Dog Moon has managed to capture the system so well that it gave me bouts of nostalgia throughout the entire track.

Again, they put their own spin on things, and the electric energy is completely through the roof, which is called for, but they just drive it home, and all of this on top of some incredible guitar work and those powerful, almost operatic, theatrical style vocals, really close the deal.

Everything fits together amazingly, and you can tell there was a lot of time and attention put into the arrangement of the track, and again, letting the guitars rip the way they need to.

Great guitar solos can drive a song even further, and that's exactly how they utilize the lead guitars in this song.

This is a single that showcases what Black Dog Moon is all about.

You can tell they even recorded the track loudly. Those guitars were turned way up on the recording.

There are many influences strewn across this one single; however, from what we can tell, this is just one track that should be a part of an upcoming LP.

Absolutely something I'm looking forward to.

Dive into this track as soon as you can so you can really soak it in, and don't be afraid to turn it up; that's how it was meant to be heard.

This is for real-deal, classic metal fans in any facet.

Once you dig into this track and you love it, prepare for the upcoming LP that should be dropping not too long from now.

Check this single out right now and rip it up with the band.
