The Detailed And Classic Folk Stylings Of Brian Barron
The latest from Brian Barron is a lyrically brutal story told in the form of a beautiful Americana duet that really hits home with a detailed gift of gab and all accompanied by roots feeling folk acoustic guitars.
"Junkie Boy" is quite sad but likely comes from a real place. It paints quite a vivid picture and is performed with a sort of classic country undertone that really works here.
The single is wonderfully woven and feels smooth and natural to ago right along with its cinematic and almost dreamy feel.
This seems like the sort of song that Barron may have had stuck in his head one day and had to get it out as it feels like an on the spot idea that came to fruition nearly perfectly.
The entire song isn't actually a duet but the choruses are sung with a female vocalist harmonizing with the artist and it really does add a little bit extra and gives it a beautiful sheen without losing its rootsy tonality that makes it so damn appealing in the first place.
It surely gets under your skin and sticks with you and it feels like something you'd hear in an indie flick.
The gypsie vibe is there just hovering around and it all has the feel of a live performance at times.
It's a very well performed song but still has that nice almost loose style to it that actually gives it that live performance feel too.
Maybe this was done live in-room. Who knows. All we know is this track will stay in your head for a number of reasons and will get you thinking and picturing.
It's great to hear a song that makes the brain kick in and start thinking about certain things or even picturing certain things.
Check this track out if you're a fan of Americana, folk, and classics like Nick Drake even.
