A new single from Cat Lion delivers a very unique approach to the topic of heartbreak or break up, with a track that brings out a lush and beautiful country tonality, along with personal perspective and vivid imagery through lyrics that you can literally paint a picture in your head as the song unfolds.

"The Drizzle" is a track focused on the aftermath of something intense, like a breakup. The way that she gets into the descriptive detail is pretty incredible, and one of the reasons you get swept up in the track.

The story told is one you get engulfed in very quickly again because she's able to paint you this picture so well and so clearly that you can't turn away.

The musical performance is gorgeous. Lush, full-bodied, but still sort of cinematic, country tones fill the air, and you have amazing instrumentation from lap steel to guitar, rolling snares, and full Southern swing.

Her vocals are something that really captures a certain kind of sullen aesthetic.

What really hits you about this track is how well everything is pieced together. The whole thing has a natural and beautiful forward-moving flow, but also a lot of honesty and personality attached.

It's the story and personality that you really get attached to first.

You rarely find an artist who's able to do these kinds of things. She performs with a lot of heart, and so you feel the authenticity behind the lyrics. The music sets the mood for those lyrics, and everything wraps itself around you and keeps you right where it wants to.

Some organs fill the space and sort of float through the tracks' ether, guitar work across the song that adds certain kinds of flares here and there, and still a somewhat underlying pop sensibility throughout it all.

Cat Lion is clearly influenced by Americana and Country in terms of the genre and the tones, but she's also someone who puts pieces of herself in her music so that you can follow along with the story and soak up all the inner thoughts that come spilling out of her.

This is a brilliant combination because it doesn't come along often. When it does, you get swept up in it. This is a song again, easy to get washed away with, in a sense.

You can feel the emotional pull behind the song and grab hold of the genuine sentiment behind everything.

I thoroughly enjoyed this simply because it was something that felt real. You can tell it all came from some real place, and because of that, you're able to connect with it easily.

Being an artist with a real love for her craft, Cat Lion seems to put a lot into her creative process. Part of that is the music video that accompanies the song itself.

The video displays such a unique artist presence. It has beautiful shots, choreographed dance pieces, color tones that match the music and mood of the track itself, and some amazing cinematography.

It's actually one of the best ways to hear the song for the first time. When you watch the video, you get a lot from it.

As I mentioned before, the descriptive lyrics pull you into the story right from the get-go.

What is the drizzle? It's the sound of the rain hitting her window.

That's just how the song starts, and it goes from there.

So, you can see from that example alone how she paints that story for you very clearly.

The video kind of showcases that visually even more for you.

Everything about this relief and the whole thing is absolutely performed with a beautiful approach, and again, this honesty and flow that gives off a very particular country in Americana aesthetic.

I would listen to this track with headphones on because it's one of the best ways to soak in all of the layers and textures that are happening in this song.

Take a deep dive into this single as soon as you can, and while you're at it, take a deep dive into her catalog on Spotify, as she's got some amazing releases, including a full-length album from earlier this year.

Almost everything she puts out there showcases different sides of who she is as a person and of her artistry as well.

Check all of this out now so you can see exactly what I mean.
