A Colorful New Single From CATOON
A new single release from Catoon brings out a very colorful soundscape that incorporates everything from Indie pop, contemporary, indie rock, and even Jazzy undertones and brings all of those together to create a sort of atmosphere that you end up falling right into.
"Moving Right Along" certainly does boast that jazz feel with all kinds of amazing jams on the keys and solo sections that add a liveliness to the already quite vivacious sound.
One of the things I adore most about this track is the energy that it delivers and that's pretty impressive seeing that the whole thing between the two of them they are really able to complement each other on this track especially.
The song is insanely addictive and it comes through very danceable as well with great grooves and a fun rhythm but the whole thing has this sort of alive and breathing undertone to it and this is part of the reason why the track is so addictive in general.
In a way you kind of begin to expect the unexpected halfway through the song and you can tell this is done by people who have a real love for the craft and when I say that I don't just mean playing their instruments are singing, I mean writing songs together that are a little bit different and outside the box.
This does take a bit of an avant-garde approach to Indie pop and indie rock but it's infectious and in a way, it feels really good to listen to.
I also love this sort of experimental approach and genre-bending because it's hard to put your finger on exactly one genre especially with a song like this since it does blend in all these different approaches in one song.
I can't say this, it certainly does have a pop coating to it and it packs a little bit of a punch as well as it hints towards elements of edginess but does so with a subtlety.
The keys and guitars are great on this track and along with these sort of layered crew vocals you have amazing lead guitar work and keys that really jam and feed into that groove and color perfectly.
The song certainly does make you want to get up and start dancing around the room and again that isn't just about the rhythm or the vibe of the track but also the energy portrayed as well.
The duo consists of Andrew Acker and Laura Pollard who take their influences and smash them together to create music that has its own aesthetic.
This to me is completely refreshing because these songs that they've been putting out are anything but cookie-cutter but they're still really catchy and really fun.
You can hear how certain tracks have more emotional drive than others but there's always a sort of meaning or purpose behind the songs that the listener can take into their own.
Upon the more recent releases is a handful of tracks that each have their own vibe. Some of them have a more vast undertone giving them a cinematic backbone while others have a more vivacious and bubbly one.
I totally dig this combination of styles and approaches throughout their history and songwriting and I can't help but feel these songs are going to end up coming together into one full-length record at some point or at least I hope so.
To me, a lot of these songs fit together like puzzle pieces and I could easily see them as part of one LP.
Either way, there's plenty to enjoy and I think that if you start with this track and work your way back you'll definitely get a great feel for what Catoon has to offer.
Vocally and musically inventive, this duo shows charisma, character, personality, and different energy levels that fit the vibes of what they're putting out.
Dive into this as soon as you can and see how it affects you.
