Daniel Grimsland Drops A Colorful New Single
A new single from Daniel Grimsland delivers a righteous and very excitable soundscape that comes in the form of a soulful rock banger and it's really the character and energy that's captured on the track that grabs a hold of you and doesn't quite let go.
"Sounds Like a Good Time" wastes absolutely no time coming in with a riff and even guitar tone that hits with as much color as they do edginess and even the guitars boast that soulful approach and sort of southern undertone.
There's just a little hint of twang in those guitars and that's part of what helps drive the song as well because this is a really sort of uplifting and impactful track that feels great to listen to and nice and loud.
On top of that, it feels like it was super fun for Daniel to record, and that energy is incredible the entire time.
What sort of blows my mind about this is the fact that Daniel is a multi-instrumentalist and quite possibly performed a multitude of the instruments if not all of them on this track.
How he is able to capture this sort of live performance energy level on a track that he did all himself is beyond me.
I can't quite fathom how someone is able to create a song that not only feels like a live band, but feels like a band with players that are feeding off of each other's energies the entire time right there in the moment.
Also, he is somehow able to lay a track out in his mind at some point and then bring it to fruition.
I'm wondering if he starts with drums, guitars, or what. Either way it's really well done and the arrangement is also killer.
This track borders on everything from classic rock to indie rock, it hits hard where it wants to but not over the top, and the vocals compliment the entire song without taking anything away from it.
This is a tough thing to do especially with a track like this because the music of it is so vivacious and has so much of a robust kind of feel so, vocally you have to have a match for that energy.
Luckily, Daniel pulls this off without a hitch and does so with charm to boot.
I also love how this track has a real rock backbone but somehow feels so crisp and clean at the same time.
He performs the vocal with a little bit of a sort of echo effect at times and it adds to the depth and sort of vastness of the underbelly in the track and I feel like it's mixed incredibly well also.
A lot of reviewers won't talk about the mix but I like to especially with the song like this because not only did he perform at all himself but he likely had his hand in the mix as well.
Talk about a passion project.
His enthusiasm in the performances of all the instruments on the vocals is really infectious and that energy makes you want to jump around the room and sing along with your fists in the air half the time.
This was really a fun song that showed a lot of Daniel's character as a person and his presence as an artist incredibly well.
It was completely guitar driven and he had fun with those riffs as well because there is some pretty colorful stuff riff-wise in there.
You can also kind of tell that this is where he's in his zone or his happy place. When he's in the studio creating music with no walls built around him.
He's free to do what he wants how he wants to do it and I think that's part of what makes this song so good.
It's got a sort of freeing feeling to it.
This was a relentlessly addictive and fun single that hit exactly the way it was meant to and upon listening to it I checked out some of his previous releases on Spotify and I found some really good singles including one released last year called "Hit The Road" which does indeed bear some of the same Stables that this track does but with even more of a southern twang to it especially in those guitars.
His stuff is really produced well and comes through with a thick and polished tonality.
Dive into this track when you can and don't be afraid to turn it up because it feels really good that way.
I'd also suggest possibly listening to this track first thing in the morning because it really affects your mood in a positive way.
