Daniel Grimsland Returns With "Stone Cold Beautiful"
Daniel Grimsland returns once again with a fun and colorful new single that breeds such a classic rock undertone and influence and has a vivacious approach and fun personality along with a killer riff that grabs you right from the get-go.
"Stone Cold Beautiful" is certainly a track that has its punch but isn't quite over the top but more vibrant and sort of bouncy than anything else. This track takes that classic rock inspiration and brings it into a kind of garage rock approach but in true Daniel Grimsland style, there's still some soul and this kind of heart that goes into it and that's part of what gives it that big energy.
If Daniel has proven anything to us in his past few releases it's the sheer fact that he knows how to write a course that stays with you. A hook that you can sing along with, dance to come and jump around the room with, and just have fun.
The thing about Daniel is that he is a multi-instrumentalist that utilizes those skills to bring together his craft songwriting and I think that that's something pretty unique seeing that when you listen to the songs I feel like a live band.
This track is certainly no exception to that rule whatsoever because it's got a lot going on, and it again, it just boasts that huge energy and this is part of the song's addictive tonality.
That energy ends up feeding into you and then you end up feeding back into it. Being able to portray that kind of punchy vibrancy when Daniel himself is probably playing the drums, guitar, bass and singing, is something that has to be difficult to do.
I have to admit, my favorite part of this entire track is the guitar solo. It is so classic and so well done because it's got some soul and it's not just all over the place. It's really well played and performed and when you listen to it you can kind of picture him just ripping and having a ball.
The guitar solo adds to the element of fun and color that the song portrays and really helps push the excitement level through the roof.
It's also quite cool that during that guitar solo the backing guitars are just slamming on those strings and the whole vibe of the track is just super high octane.
Maybe this is something he's able to pull off so well because he is the one playing most or all of the instruments on this track.
It's like he's feeding off of his own energy.
I can't really imagine how something like this would start. Does he play the drums down first, then the guitarist?
Did it start with a riff? The riff is a major attraction to the song because it comes in right from the start. It's got a really cool bend in it and you're just into it as soon as it comes on.
So maybe it was the riff that started this whole thing.
I guess that's the kind of thing that separates artists from the rest of us. I suppose writing can be considered an art. Grant it, I'm not the most amazing writer out there obviously.
I do love doing this though. Being able to pick apart music this way is extremely fun and at no point whatsoever is it boring. Especially when you have songs like this because this single is as I mentioned earlier, infectiously excitable.
Writing a song of this nature is something that takes a whole different kind of thought process then writing about a song of this nature.
I think that's what attracts me to it so much. Just the all of how it's all put together and being able to have a final product.
Anyway, I digress. This track definitely portrays plenty of the Staples that I love about Daniel's music and I think that his ear for production and overall polish lets him control the aesthetic of how the song ends up in the end.
So again, maybe that's the trick. Having one person come up with the idea, have the vision in his head, and then execute every aspect of it so that it comes out as close to the way it was when he first thought of it.
Again, I really have no idea but this track is a damn good time and if you love high energy classic rock, this is totally for you.
We're no strangers to Daniel as you can probably tell by now and I do have to mention that he has another single that we've touched base on before called "Sounds Like A Good Time" which is just as good as this track.
Anyway check this out as soon as you can. It's an ultra fun rock banger.
