Some Fresh Bangers from Disposable Thumbs

A few recent single releases dropped from Disposable Thumbs give off such a vivacious and colorful approach to blending elements of indie, pop, and even a little classic rock at times with a garage sort of overtone that lets the songs feel almost like a live performance.
'Listerine and Wine" grabs you right away with some of the lyrics and the vocal approach is something that really works well here because they're double-tracked giving a little bit of thickness to the song and it focuses on the start with just guitars and vocals so you can soak that in before everything else kicks in.
One of the most fun things about this track is how it has the aesthetic of something that was released in the 1970s or early '80s. It's got a sort of garage punk attitude and atmosphere to it which is super addictive but they also blend in some of that indie rock vibe too.
The energy level across this track is perfection. Again, these songs feel like they were recorded live on the floor and everyone involved was feeding off of each other's energies the entire time.
This puts you in the moment in a certain way which I adored about this release.
You also have elements of classic power pop in there with bopping rhythms and vocal harmonies that come in only in certain chunks of the song.
This was vibrant and endlessly fun, a bit danceable and quickly infectious to say the very least.
I love how these guys blend in classic influences and aesthetics with this newer vibe as well because they do it seamlessly.
In this one track alone you pick up on some of those old-school influences and that comes through with the song writing and arrangement as well.
The guitar tone across the board is awesome. It's a little hard-hitting but not overly distorted or anything. It's just the way it's played. The guitar feels like it's being struck with a heavy hand, adding some drive to the track along with those drums, of course.
The drumming is also spot on because it's in the pocket a lot of the time but it also adds a liveliness and element of surprise to the songs.
This was a track with a bopping, pop-coated atmosphere.
The other thing released recently is called "Mezcal Bonecrusher", and this track has a completely different atmosphere.
The whole song starts with a bass guitar tone that's gritty and fuzzy almost like old-school Misfits. The rest of the song follows suit with a much heavier tonality and thrashier punk approach.
Very lively, of course, and this track hits differently. It hits like a sucker punch to the gut that I didn't expect.
I mean that in a good way of course.
This track was put forth with a heavy and edgy punk aesthetic which was surprising, but worked super well for the band.
The energy level is always there. With both tracks, that energy again, puts you there in the moment. It's something that you can feed off of.
I think that's one of the most important aspects of these releases.
These tracks have character and fun, and you can tell they are all coming from a band that loves what they do.
These guys are doing this purely as a passion project and it shows.
Definitely check out both of these singles because each one has something a little bit different to offer but is totally thriving. I certainly can't wait to hear what else these guys release in the near future because I'm not sure exactly what to expect, but I know it's going to be fun.
So, if you're ready for a good time, check these songs out and see what they do for you.
