A Feel Good Single from D.P. da Prophet

A fresh release from D.P. da Prophet takes some classic '80s and '90s synthesized elements and creates this amazingly refreshing and bright hip hop banger that comes through with such a presence and classic undertone that you get bouts of nostalgia listening to it.

One of the reasons this track hit so well is that I am an 80s kid. I grew up in the '80s and then the '90s, of course. This track absolutely nails that aesthetic from the beats and keys, straight to the vocals.

And the vocal performance on this track is absolutely everything. It displays such rich character and attitude, energy through the roof, but not over the top. Everything is completely balanced, but this song just feels amazing to listen to.

The track is called "Saturday", and not only does it capture this nostalgic sort of soundscape and aesthetic, but the lyrics kind of follow suit as well.

The song is about the day off. A beautiful summer day where you can throw some meat on the barbecue and have a good time with friends and family.

The song is about just living life. Those laid-back days where you're not working, you feel good, it's warm and welcoming, and you just want to hold on to those moments forever.

For a lot of us, that's what Saturdays are all about, and this artist has absolutely nailed that feeling with this track.

You can tell it was well thought out. You can easily listen and hear the fact that he wanted this to feel classic. He wanted the whole element of freedom, feel good, warmth, and hints of usefulness to all be a part of the sound that comes through the speakers.

I love a song that makes you want to get up and dance, and this one absolutely does. This is one of the more danceable songs that I've heard in a while, and it does have this amazingly refreshing pop overcoat, even though it sits firmly under that classic hip hop umbrella.

The song even has a dance element to it where he gives you the steps to the dance, and while this is happening, you can picture all of it unfolding right in front of you.

You can sort of picture people out in the backyard, grilling in the background smoking, big house, family and friends around, crowds of people, everyone's got t-shirts and shorts, everything is just bright, and the people in the center of the crowd are doing this dance.

I love that part because it's so descriptive, and it's also, I'll say it again, classic. A lot of old school hip hop and pop songs, especially, had certain dances that you can do in the song itself.

It was like a way of establishing a greater moment in the track, and the music videos would obviously show those.

I love hearing a song that feels like I would come inside from my own barbecue, walk into the den, and this track would be on MTV.

It's got color, flavor, personality, and funk. This song has so many great elements to it and plenty that you want, with layers of great textures going on, and this energy that's completely infectious, right from the start.

The lyrics are totally descriptive, and he goes off on that perfect sort of Saturday, which, in turn, allows memories of your own to sort of pop up when you least expect them.

It's connected in that sense. You don't always find songs that connect in that way, but this one does an amazing job of it.

Just chilling out on a Saturday, a good time, relaxing, spending time with people that you want to spend time with.

That's what the song is all about. The essence and spirited approach are all right there, and it makes everything work.

D.P. da Prophet certainly reached back for this one, and it worked amazingly.

If you're an 80s or 90s kid like me, you grew up with this stuff, and obviously, he did as well. The influence from that era of hip hop and pop music is completely infused and lives again in this song.

This was beautifully done, very attentive, and endlessly fun.

So, light up the barbecue, and turn this track up. Be ready for a good time.
