A New Vintage Psych-Rock Single from Duane Hoover

A fresh release from Duane Hoover reaches back to his roots with that classic rock approach, but also brings in a more psychedelic feel. This style of rock beckons more of a 60s soundscape along with double-tracked tracked animated vocals that are a little trippy, lots of fun, and come through colorful and vibrant.

What really hits about "Just An Everyday Thing" are the guitars. The guitar work across this track is absolutely outstanding, with short bursts of wailing bends that add to the jive and groove of the track as a whole.

Duane Hoover is an artist who can shape his music into almost anything he wants, but whenever I hear his songs, I hear heavy-handed influences from the past.

Of course, one can say that about plenty of music, but with this artist, you hear these sounds that are derived from a raw classic rock era that others sort of just get influenced by, but don't go all the way to gain the vintage aesthetic that Duane does.

He goes out of his way to grab hold of this feeling and set of tones, which goes right down to how even the drums were recorded.

Everything about the track is so honestly classic that it feels like an actual track that was released decades ago, and we're just getting to hear it now.

The song also tells a great story, and it's easy to follow and is just very danceable.

You have live percussion that is full and sort of lush, driving the song but also letting it feel alive and breathing at the same time. You also have layers of guitars, which is brilliant.

This is another aspect that reaches in and beckons that classic vintage rock aesthetic. There is an acoustic guitar performing a set of rhythm tracks, and an overlaying guitar that does this deeper sort of riff over those, and then you have these sets of guitars doing little lead licks in between all of those.

So, just between the guitars alone, you have several layers of awesomeness that are just piled on top of each other, and then you have the bass guitar, which performs a line that syncs itself with the drumming, but also lets the song walk and remain colorful the way it was meant to be.

The artist also has a particular knack for the way he records his music so that things feel a bit loose.

What I mean is, he's got layers of vocals, and all those guitars, drumming, and bass guitar. Between everything, you have the two lead guitars that are doing the licks, but they're double-tracked and not exactly the same, so they sort of tumble or flop over each other loosely.

He performs the same way vocally. This is done purposely. It's supposed to have this classic rock looseness to it. It's part of the vibe and approach of the track, and it works wonderfully because that's what music sounded like.

This is an artist who completely understands not just how to write a song, but how to perform it and track it in a way that hits the aesthetic he's going for.

That's a lot of attention to detail, and Duane Hoover certainly has a real love for his particular breeding craft of songwriting.

This song is like a love letter or an ode to those classic rock bands he grew up with, and he's able to put this out there feeling vintage, and he just leans right into it and lets it roll.

It's just completely natural.

Like I said, when you hear the song, it immediately feels like a track that was released in the late sixties or early seventies, and you're just getting to hear it now.

You even get this great little breakdown section that brings out those acoustic guitars more for rocking back out.

This is also someone who knows exactly how to arrange a song so that you never get bored.

In case you're unfamiliar with the music of Duane Hoover, there's a lot to go around.  The artist keeps dropping these banger singles and releasing music that comes through incredibly authentic.

Check this track out, turn it up, and then listen to more from the artist because there's a lot to take in.

I can't wait to hear what's next from Duane. If you love classic rock of any kind from any era, this is absolutely for you. You won't be let down whatsoever.

If you're like me, you'll be quite impressed by how genuine that aesthetic comes across.

Another brilliant and endlessly fun track from Duane Hoover.
