Elijah Cruise Releases a Classic Single
In a new single release from Elijah Cruz, the artist showcases some really classic and vintage soundscapes and influences that reach back to the mid to late 80s in a song that is bursting with personality, color, and this classic pop overtone that you just can't turn away from.
"Loverboy" certainly doesn't hold back in the way of combining rich instrumentation with those bright pop sensibilities, as the record intertwines smooth saxophone, '80s rock, and catchy hooks, all in one shot, and it works like a charm.
This is a track with an unbeatable chorus. It sticks in your head amazingly, and because he's using these keys, guitars, and hooks that are all bred from this nostalgic, 80s approach, it feels slightly familiar and inviting.
During the verses, he diverges, allowing you to grasp the sentiment of the track, along with his enthusiastic vocal approach, which comes through with amazing energy and a flavorful set of melodies for those verses themselves.
As this is happening, you have these great keys that sort of fill the empty space and give you the chord progression behind him.
The more rock aspect of the track comes in during the choruses when it starts to really pick up and hit that climactic and hooky section.
I love that he was able to blend those classic, contemporary, and '80s rock elements so that you have something that is both colorful and slightly edgy but always brings you a lot of lush soundscapes and takes it all to a danceable place.
This really was nailed in terms of its aesthetic. It feels like a track that was released in 1988. It belonged on the radio waves, and because of that, you get bouts of nostalgia when you listen to it.
You can tell this was what he had in his head when he was writing the song, and that it probably came to fruition pretty close to what he envisioned.
This track also has an amazing sense of building. By the time you get halfway through the song, a lot of it is in full swing before it hits a smooth and sort of calming breakdown section, and then after that, the course comes back with everything involved and has a very full-bodied feel, with additional backup vocals doing these other little hooks, and there's absolutely no space in there.
You're getting color, textures, melodies, sounds, it all comes at you at once, and it feels great because it's a very spirited kind of track, and again, you can tell that he's pulling from several influences that he must have absolutely adored growing up.
Really hits the hardest about this track is its encompassing of these different genres from the rock to the pop, a little electronic, and more. He's able to take those elements and blend them seamlessly so that you have something that's got its own atmosphere and that feels amazing.
Now, if you're not too familiar with Elijah Cruz, he's already collected quite a set of accolades, including headlining multiple tours in 2025, performing over 35 shows in total, and having over 2 million streams and a BBC Radio number one, among many others.
This is an artist who obviously has created a life engulfed in music, and when he gets an idea, he jumps straight into the studio to flesh it out.
This was an endlessly fun single that really shone with a bright artist presence, and again, this amazingly classic and vintage, '80s influenced soundscape that was completely perfected but still came through with that character and that heart the entire way.
This one is for us '80s kids. If you grew up in that time. You will get attached to the song exactly how I did.
So, kickback, turn this up, and soak it in. You won't be disappointed.
