A Bright And Driving New Single from EXISHEX
A new single release from EXISHEX delivers a very unique yet robust blend of synth-pop, dance, electronic, and even elements of hip hop that shine through, all rolled up into this wonderfully energetic, colorful, but still slightly edgy approach that hits with a brilliant sonic drive and presence.
"I Follow" doesn't only display a fresh blend of genres, but also a bit of personality and character along the way, which is one of the things you end up getting attached to.
I definitely enjoyed the lush soundscape brought on by layered synthesizers and keys; it really builds layers and atmosphere that you end up falling right into.
The single has a bit of a vast or spacious undertone, but still comes through incredibly danceable. It also has a cinematic backbone. It's got some emotion attached to it.
The production is pristine. It is definitely well thought out, but also has heart. It is driving but also has a bit of softness, and it's underbelly. It's a little bit vulnerable, but in a good way.
The experimental and outside-the-box electronic approach is something that breeds a boisterous soundscape that you end up sort of floating alongside.
There are numerous synthesizers utilized throughout the track, and each one of them comes through with a slightly different tone, which is why it ends up feeling so full-bodied as a whole.
The vocals are very melodically based and, at times, feel almost like an instrument themselves. They mesh with the keys and synths perfectly.
They get more intense towards the end of the song as they sing this great melody, but in an octave higher than the main hook.
The thing about this track is that it has a lot of pop sensibility. That pop overtone is almost always there, but the production and approach really branch off so that you have a song with depth and loads of textures that come together.
With an ear for that pop sensibility, the song is built by sculpting sounds. None of these synthesizers feels like they're right out of the box, but instead, tweaked a bit so that it's got a unique undertone.
Again, it's got its element of edginess, but it's not over the top. This is a bright single that has a positive feel and spirited energy.
I think energy is one of the most important aspects of the track in general. It's got brilliant energy because it's balanced. Again, it gets more excited towards the end, but throughout the rest of the track, you have all of these digital tones coming at you.
Because there are so many great layers of those synths, the energy just has a very heightened feel. It's slightly intense but again, not really over the top. The vocals balance them out incredibly well.
I definitely think this was planned and done in a way so that the song gets the message across and has a certain subtlety to it while all the synths and keys are thriving.
You can clearly tell that the artist and producer has a slew of influences he holds close to his heart and certainly pulls from a lot of them to create this soundscape.
This single offers a lot to chew on and does so in a wonderfully woven arrangement and an excitable atmosphere.
Along with the song comes an accompanying music video that showcases some of the visual presence the project delivers.
The music video is also well planned and thought out, as you see certain lyrics popping up on the screen, either right up front or in the back on billboards or buildings.
So, visually, the message is getting across while you have this cartoon Avatar singing the song on the upfront.
I certainly liked this aspect as well because the singing avatar literally performs word-for-word, and it actually helps you follow the lyrics along easier.
This single showcases a catchy single that bends genres and brings out a lot of elements you can grab onto. The sounds, textures, and tones of this single alone are very well built.
Definitely check this one out as soon as you can and listen with headphones on, as it is one of the best ways to soak in all of those textures.
Upon listening to the single, I wanted to have a sit-down with the artist to find out exactly where this track came from and what might be coming up next.
So, while you have a listen to the song, read through our interview with EXISHEX below.
Let's hope the sounds don't stop.
Thanks so much for taking the time! Let's jump right into "I Follow"! This track was sonically driving with layers of textures overlapping and giving everything this polish and wildness!
Where did this song come from and what was it about?
It is odd, I was working on my Baby Grand Piano in my studio and I accidentally came up with a quick piano riff which was noting like I was looking for a totally different song and immediately took a video off the loop, easy way to remember and then went to synth set up and found a sound I liked, looped in and out of nowhere I added a couple of percussion loops, some Riser type sounds and a Choir Voice I loved and the core of the track came together..it was a gift!
I am hearing a few different styles on this single. Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
Multiple influences actually, more or a time period, 80’s synthpop such as depeche mode
Ah what I listed to for relaxation is nothing like like what I write which is really odd, on this piece I think that some of the 80’s bands, suck as Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys with the influence of modern Hip Hop and EDM Artist
Are you performing live right now?
Hopefully soon, puttning a band tougher as we speak, should be a High Tech Show!
Currently I am concentrating on the Release, By Summer I hop to have the band ready for live performance, perhaps sooner
How did this all start for you as an artist?
Music has been a passion for me since I was a Child, I was the frontman for a successful synth pop band in the early 1990s’ known as ISH, we had a couple of nice dance club hits mainly I>S>H> Revenge and Someday I’ll be Gone, We toured and had a great time, after this me I started producing for such acts as Velvet Vimoz, For our Lifetime, Kenny Orlando and others…I thought I might please a single, rebranding the original ISH, Hence EXISHEX was born and I Follw was released
What are you performing on the record?
As of now, everything heard on the release is created by Myself, The music, lyrics, vocals, recording, editing and I also created the video on my own, was too much fun!
Did you work with a producer on this album, or was this all you?
All me as mentioned
What's next for you? Working on more new releases?
Definitely will follow up shortly with my second single mid summer 2026!
What kind of advice would you give to other up and coming bands or artists trying to get heard?
The all too familiar answer, nut true! “Never Give Up” has always worked for me!
What would you say people can expect to hear on this release?
High end EDM with and 80’s flare, Great quality and do not forget the video!
Before we go, what would you want to express to fans of the music?
Appreciated! Listen Often and Loud!
