A NEW SINGLE FROM FRANC LOZ
A new single release from Franc Loz delivers a unique breed of honesty that comes through in the form of a lush and full-bodied indie rock soundscape that also hints at a little bit of added edginess but an almost cinematic backbone at the same time.
"Crossroads" is a track that certainly gives you some insight into the artist's inner thought and talks of a struggle that a lot of us have gone through or are going through which to me is really important because from the artist's perspective, it may have been cathartic but for the listener, it's very relatable at times so for certain people, this may be something that makes them feel a little bit less alone in certain kinds of struggles or feelings.
I feel like a song like this is kind of Brave just because he's very open and upfront about the situation and the song boasts that sort of emotional drive lyrically while musically, it does follow suit with certain kinds of progressions and changes, however, it keeps to this more robust rock vibe.
Along with amazing guitar tone and memorable hooks, you get some added layers with keys and this sort of vastness in the song's undertone as well.
Again, it is a blend of indie rock and a sort of 90s or early 2000s cinematic rock approach and it works perfectly here because it's got so much character that you end up getting attached to that more than anything else.
This is in no way a bad thing because I feel like this is what a lot of music lacks these days. Character.
There's more personality in this one track than certain albums I've listened to recently and this humanizes the artist because it lets you connect with the song.
It's a track that hits all the sweet spots in terms of a classic Indian alternative rock single that has a certain smartness to it but it also feels authentic like it definitely came from someplace real and that's what you end up really getting connected with.
There's also a certain kind of gracefulness in the performance and you can hear some of that emotional drive in the vocal approach as well because it does have some passion in there and there are certainly some melody lines and hooks that bounce around in your brain for hours after the song is ended.
I definitely love the lusciousness of this track and how thick it feels but it also reminds me of classic post-punk sort of bands too.
Not in the sense of the rock tone, but more in the sense that you have a song that has different changes in progressions but also has a sort of positive vibe musically and is upbeat while the lyrics are so brutally honest and dark at times.
This to me, is a classic combination and you don't come across it often so this track was incredibly refreshing.
Along with the single comes an accompanying music video that shows even more of that character and has a unique way of showcasing Franc's presence as an artist as well.
The video was shot very well and flows with the song and its lyrics perfectly.
You can certainly tell there was a lot of attention to detail during the creation of the song and the music video but no matter what, it never loses the purpose, meaning, or personality that it begins with.
That aspect holds strong and I feel like a lot of people will understand the meaning of this track when they listen to it because again, I feel like a lot of us have been there.
This is the kind of track that could certainly serve as part of the soundtrack to certain chapters in a lot of our lives and for me, that's something that I connected with right off the bat.
A very well-performed track that has amazing energy and a refreshing honest approach, definitely check this track out as soon as you can and don't be afraid to turn it up either.
See how this affects you.
