A Soulful New Single From Freedivers
The latest release from Freedivers breeds across between pop and rock with an acoustic backbone and lush approach, and an emotionally driven and soulfully delivered style which in combination, creates a certain atmosphere that you get pulled into.
"Rabbit Hole" is a wonderfully woven single that really shows a lot of character as well as this beautiful combination of a youthful undertone with a maturity in songwriting and with that, you get something memorable.
The track at times makes me think of contemporary pop songs from the late '90s but this has a very full-bodied set of acoustic instrumentation that let the song flow a certain way.
You can tell that this song came from someplace genuine and that really lets the song come across in a very authentic manner.
The performance vocally especially, is outstanding and boasts a lot of soul as it is performed with a gracefulness that lets everything wrap itself around you and keep you right where it wants to.
Whether or not this is an acoustic version of a song the band already had, this particular version is done live and that energy although subtle, is really evident throughout the song.
This gives everything that slightly freeing feeling and it makes things a little bit more intense as well.
You can tell all these guys have a real love for what they're doing and there's a lot of character in the song itself.
It feels very rare that you get such a clean and crisp version of a song when done in a live setting but these guys really pull it off without a hitch.
Everything about this song is quite refreshing and although it does hold certain levels of nostalgic undertone for me, it will hit a lot of sweet spots for everyone.
This is the kind of song that you want to dig into and find out where it came from and what inspired it.
You know there is a backstory to a song like this especially if you listen to the lyrics and the cool thing about it is without that particular backstory, the song becomes your own.
You think of your own situations and your own people.
I absolutely love when a song makes you think and feel the way that this one does because you don't come across it that often anymore.
And also makes you want to see these guys live because watching a live acoustic performance done with such perfection but with such wonderful energy and flow, makes you want to be in the room with them.
This track was beautifully done from all angles and it's absolutely outstanding you had to have alive acoustic performance come through the way this one does.
I definitely suggest listening to this one when you get a chance and doing it with headphones while watching the video.
