The new single release from Gail Silverman AKA G, and Mystic Femmes delivers a very spacious soundscape that lets you get immersed or engulfed in this beautiful atmosphere that feels both slightly vulnerable but also honest.

"The Womb" is built with acoustic guitar, light percussion, and other instruments like synthesized string sections that come in and help build a cinematic backbone, which all really work in combination with each other, especially with the vocal approach.

This is a track that's meant to swallow you up. Not in a bad way, but just in a way that makes you feel something.

This is a song for people who want to think or feel when they listen to good music, simply because this track itself wraps its arms around you and digs a little deep into certain elements of that vulnerability and how we want to tuck ourselves away into safety at times.

Sometimes it's just about the feeling of being safe. The song is put in the perspective of being in a womb. Your whole life ahead of you, nothing has quite begun just yet, and you are in this warm, safe place.

The way she articulates her lyrics is beautiful because she's telling a story, but she's also being very personal and speaking a lot of truths.

There's a great level of bravery when it comes to songs like this because she's letting out so much actual inner thought for everyone to take in, and this is how she gives a piece of herself in her music.

The funny thing is, I feel like almost everyone can really relate to a song like this one. It's got such a strong sentiment, and none of us can really deny that it's difficult dealing with life's problems, and more than half of the time, you just want to curl up under the blankets and have a little bit of a cushion, a safety net to lean back on.

It's such a wonderful way to display an emotion that feels like it can be quite intense at times.

This is a singer-songwriter or very folk-oriented song, not just because of the amazing acoustic guitars, but also the vocal approach and the whole subtle, delicate tonality of everything.

Even though the song can feel lush at times with the vocals, percussion, synths, and guitars, it feels very soft at the same time.

This is because the music and instrumentation really reflect the mood and sentiment of the song itself.

She was amazing at putting this together and making it feel authentic.

Part of that authenticity definitely comes from her outstanding vocal performance. She's got such a strong voice and can portray different levels of intensity as the song unfolds.

She lays in some great harmonies and backing vocals that sort of float through the song's ether, giving it depth and the element of spaciousness or ambience in its underbelly.

That is amazingly displayed as well because a song like this needs that depth to really work.

I suggest listening to this one with headphones on so you can really soak in all those layers of textures and tones that flow around you.

By the end of the track, everything is sort of full swing. It's got a higher intensity, all the instruments are really in play, and it feels very full-bodied.

I love how she built the song up to those moments and was really able to portray that emotional intensity perfectly.

Her vocals are a really alluring aspect to the track, not just because of the lyrics, but really because of how she performs them.

When she wants to, she can sing in such a robust manner. The vocals have such a boisterous feel and tone to them at times that it just pulls you in.

If you do listen to this song with headphones on, you will be pulled away from whatever you're doing and put in this different space for a little chunk of time.

When it's over, you'll have to take the headphones off and reacclimate yourself once again.

I dig this aspect also simply because it serves as an escape, in a sense.

A lot about this single was quite breathtaking, and Gail is an impressive storyteller and lyricist. The way she utilizes the womb, almost like a metaphor, is borderline brilliant.

Most certainly do not miss this track, and while you're at it you should check out some of the previous releases as they showcase other sides to her artistry and personality as well.

So, if you're looking for music that will make you feel something, this is 100% for you.

Remember where you heard it first.
