The Return of Glitter Etiquette Takes Us Back To The Experimental Rock Sound We know And Love

The latest release from Glitter Etiquette brings out a more psychedelic and spacious atmosphere in rock music and soundscape by way of bringing together reverb-drenched vocals with addictive and colorful sort of guitar sections, along with an amazing bass guitar tone, and this sort of cinematic feel and its underbelly that comes creeping out as the song unfolds.

The release is what many would consider to be a maxi-single, which consists of two different singles and one track.

"Help Im a Bug" is the first of the two and the one that I'm speaking of now. This track is the one that gives you that spacious sort of atmosphere that you swim through. The track is trippy and loads of fun as the band gives you a slow-paced swing time sort of rhythm along with reeling guitars and those distant vocals that give the effect of a shoegaze style approach.

Now, this track isn't exactly shoegaze, per se, but it does give you some of those tones because of all the reverb. Shoegaze, as a genre, is naturally ambient and vast.

While this truck does provide those elements, it doesn't really rock in a heavier sense. There are no heavy distortions or crunchy guitar parts. It's all very melodic, and it has a smooth, natural flow to it that invites you to swim alongside it.

This is a band that definitely knows exactly how to create depth with their music.

Glitter Etiquette branches out in different directions depending on what they feel like doing.

While they are definitely known for putting out songs that walk the line between psych rock and a sort of indie alternative feel, it is all very experimental.

They have releases out there that are straight punk, grunge, and more, while others are more like this. Spacious and with layers of textures that feel and sound silky.

I definitely enjoyed this first one because it takes you for a bit of a ride. It's filled with flavorful tones, and I like how those vocals are so deep. There's so much great reverb effect on those vocals that you feel like you are embedded into the song itself.

It is a song that puts you there in a moment in a very unique manner.

The second track is called "Pixel de Angel", and this one, to me, feels much more cinematic. It does still showcase some amazing experimentation, but it's more straightforward and feels like it's something that you would have heard on an alternative radio station in the mid-90s.

The guitars have a sort of chorus effect that makes them sound very watery and wavy.

The vocals aren't so distant. This one has vocals that are closer up, so you can understand a lot more of the lyrics, and the mood of this track is very unique. It displays such an intense sort of mood and breeds a little bit of a post-punk backing.

The whole sort of darkish overtone of the track makes you think of certain post-punk bands of the same era.

Listening to these songs, you can definitely hear how certain '90s rock bands influenced them.

This EP definitely encompasses how the band welcomes experimentation in rock music with open arms.

By doing that, they are able to create songs that are very original but still have hints of nostalgic underbelly so that they can still feel somewhat familiar in a strange way.

I definitely loved drinking these in, and you will too. I would definitely listen to both of these right in a row as they feel like they go together consistently, but I would also check out a bunch of their recent releases, previous to this, as well.

Doing that is one of the best ways you can really hear, not the evolution necessarily, but more the branching out and experimental influences that these guys write in.

They're unafraid to release music that isn't bound to certain kinds of genres, intern, they are sort of creating their own thing.

Listen to these with headphones on because it's absolutely the best way to soak them both in properly.

Those layers and textures are brilliant, and with headphones, you can really hear everything amazingly.

Check this out now so you can hear exactly where I'm coming from with it.
