A Heavy and Memorable Single from HAAST HUNTER
A new single release from Haast Hunter delivers a particular kind of honesty in the form of an anthemic and edgy alternative rock banger that comes through with a powerful punch and inventive production so everything feels crisp but also full-bodied at the same time.
"Trial Unknown" hits hard and all the right ways because it's got a great blend of heavy rock mixed into this one single and all of the elements of the song seem to balance each other out.
One of the things I love about this track is that straightforward lyrical approach and again, that honesty that gives the song character. This is something you end up getting very attached to by the end of the track.
The guitar tones give this song an absolutely massive sonic drive and the riffs are insane but not super over the top. It still has a heavy-handed tone but is radio-friendly amidst all of that.
The tonality of the entire track as a whole is actually quite amazing. The bass guitar tones really thicken everything up but they still have a little bit of sharpness to them so it comes through with a little bit more of that added edginess and the vocals are definitely powerful and one of the most imperative aspects of the song.
There are moments during the verses where you can just feel that they are like the calm before the storm and when that storm hits, the chorus comes in and that's when everything becomes so anthemic and huge.
I love songs like this because they deliver that climax in that punch that you've been waiting for when the chorus comes along plus, there's a lot of inventive production going on so this gives the song an almost futuristic sharpness, and in combination with the arrangement let the whole thing have a very forward moving flow but still feel super explosive.
I dig a track that's really heavy like this but also has some emotional drive behind it which you can certainly tell and the energy is electric the entire time.
There's something about the track that feels like it was recorded live on the floor to an extent and all the players involved were just feeding off of each other the entire time.
It just gives you the feeling that they would pull off an outstanding live performance if you saw their show.
It's pretty easy to tell that this comes from a band who bring in different influences to the mix but all have a love for heavy music and they certainly also have a massive love for their craft. Not just playing instruments or singing, but writing songs together that have an impact and are somewhat articulate in their approach.
This was catchy, energetic, charismatic, heavy, melodic and progressive.
An excellent combination of approaches that let the song deliver something that sticks with you long after it's ended.
Along with the single comes a music video and this also displays even more of the band's charismatic and vivacious approach.
When you watch the video you can tell that they love doing this and that this is completely a passion project.
Upon listening to this track I couldn't help but take a little bit of a deep dive into their back catalog on Spotify and I'm glad I did because there are a handful of singles released previous to this one and all of them showcase the band's songwriting abilities and how they bring different influences into the mix with their tracks.
These guys are no one trick pony. They know exactly what they're doing and they either know how to produce songs super well or they work with producers who know how to bring the best out of them and come out with something that's polished, thick, heavy, but also memorable and catchy at the same time.
This was a deepening and sort of personal track that anyone who loves melodic metal and alternative rock will absolutely love.
