A new album released from Hawk in the Nest delivers a very robust and addictive approach to blending genres but always keeping those soul elements at the forefront, packing in loads of Storytelling, honesty, and character, and bringing forth a delivery that is heartfelt and can be quite impactful a lot of the time.

The self-titled Hawk in the Nest album portrays such a beautiful approach to indie-pop, Soul-pop, and vintage R&B, all rolled up into one record that showcases a lot of personal attributes and these gorgeous vocals that tell stories.

The stories told all feel very genuine. It feels like all these songs come from real places, and he's singing from the heart.

This is a record riddled with amazing instrumentation that reaches back into that classic soul approach. You have loads of horns, organs, keys, beautiful bass guitar lines, and so much more. It's a very lush record.

One of my favorite aspects of the record is its experimental side.

The record finds ways to pepper in that current feel with pop-coated and indie-sounding approaches throughout the record.

As this whole thing unfolds you get glimpses and hints of that Indie pop shining through with bright colors.

The first track, 'Don't Leave Me This Way", is an amazing track to open the door for the rest of the record as it gives off that more classic style and blends loads of R&B and soul approaches into one track. The organs thicken the song up, the backbone and beat of the track really drive it, but it's got this warm vocal that reels you in.

The artist also puts elements of contemporary and folk music in his music. Songs like "Naked" give off more of a cinematic folk approach with a sort of orchestrated underbelly, not over the top, very well balanced, but still giving the song more depth and empowerment.

A lot of the songs come through and are packed full, and leave their mark.

Out of everything, I feel like the actual song "Hawk in the Nest" represents a lot of what this artist is all about very well. You have a lot of the pianos and keys, organs and inviting vocals, old-school and new-school approaches blended, and everything comes straight from the heart.

This is one of the warmest songs on the record and probably one of my top three all in all.

I felt like this entire album showcased not only diversity and songwriting while still keeping things cohesive, but also that same level of diversity in musical influences taken on and back in throughout this record.

You can also hear elements of jazz in the undertones of some of the music when it comes to the keys and especially percussion, at times.

The whole record has the air of a live performance where everyone is sort of feeding off of each other the entire time, and the percussion is a huge element.

This is like an indie pop, Blues, soul, and R&B project that someone should really create a new genre for. I say that simply because you can't lump this under only one of those genres.

This is an album you listen to all the way through in one shot. You get the full experience this way; it feels the best, and you get this great range of styles and soul.

This was colorful, subtle, dynamic, welcoming, charismatic, and pop-infused.

All of it was very well thought out with plenty of attention paid to the little details in terms of the tones of the instruments and arrangements of the songs.

I would absolutely check this record out as soon as you can, especially if you like any kind of music that can make you feel.

If you dig music with soul, oozing with stories and personal character, this record is for you all the way through.

You most certainly do not want to miss out on this release.
