TIME TO ROCK WITH HELLAPHANT
Among the latest releases getting sent in to us came one from a band called Hellaphant and their album Crumble And Rise.
This is an enormous record that features spirited and bold songs that are executed with a lively zeal and most of them show more personage than you'd expect at first.
There is a keen radio-friendliness to most songs on the record and plenty of significant guitar licks that work as memorable melodies and all at a pace that sits right between too fast and just too slow.
The speeds vary of course but the songs all hit with a great enthusiasm that fits all too well.
There is something about this whole album and band that screams of legitimacy in punk rock music and they were able to seize a sense of a certain epoch in the genre. Maybe somewhere between 1985-1998.
This sound and sense of punk rock in those years is captured well here.
You can hear heavier tones that go a little beyond punk rock and into alternative or metal as well during moments of the record.
The entire record is non-stop and well worth checking out.
We've included a few songs below to give you a taste of the album.
