Hilary Cousins Delivers A Deep Thinking Single

12086-hilarycousinsfragmentspromo1-17729977403133.jpg

Hilary Cousins returns with a new single that digs pretty deep in terms of existentialism and how we look at ourselves. This is a song that questions a lot, especially in the way of trying to figure out who we are, what we're made of, what our purpose is, and more.

The song delves into self-worth and spirit, how we are part of the Earth and the Earth is part of us, what our souls are worth, and who we are just as people. I love a song like this simply because it has the ability to make me feel a certain way.

It really showcases an artist who isn't afraid to ask the more serious questions or get deep with philosophical aspects of Being Human.

The song is called "Fragments", and for me, it really goes through these sorts of emotional motions that pick apart these aspects.

It is definitely a little bit vulnerable, but I think there are a lot of lines throughout this track that make us not agree. I think there are a lot of lyrics that we've all thought at certain points of our lives, but didn't really know how to articulate them into words.

That is part of why when we hear a song like this, it hits us. We connect with it.

We want to be able to express these kinds of thoughts, but a lot of us can't. So, when we hear a song like this, we realize that we're not alone in some of those thoughts.

It's just a song that picks things apart in such a particular way, but it's so strangely familiar in the way that it does so. I think that because we are all human, we always question certain aspects of life and who we are.

The song is about being a person, sort of beckoning for purpose. Trying to figure things out.

It's almost too self-aware.

The song is titled fragments because it's about how we come as people are fragments of all these different things.

Now, this is how I interpreted the song, and others may take it in a little differently than I did.

For me, the sentiment was pretty loud and clear.

This is sort of a contemporary rock song that blends into classic rock and has certain Southern undertones here and there in terms of the guitar tone and approach.

I definitely love the vocals and how they come across because they do express the emotions of the track in such a way that it lines up perfectly with the lyrics.

Although the lyrics can feel slightly over the top because he's digging so deep into that existential underbelly, the performance is very well balanced and sort of lightens that up slightly.

The guitar work is excellent, and he does have this air of live performance in his energy.

Haven't said all that, I'm positive that his specialty is songwriting.

He's great at performing, can put expressive vocals on a track brilliantly, and really hit that almost classic tone in terms of his instrumentation, but it's the songwriting as a whole that really pulls you in.

The song does a great job of building a mood for those lyrics as well.

This is for the philosophers out there. It's for people who question who we are and why we're here. The song wraps itself around you in these unique ways, and even if you're not a deep thinker, it starts changing you.

You start to ponder these aspects as well as the song unfolds.

The lyrics are a cross between being straightforward and blending metaphors in there as well, and I find that borderline brilliant.

This was a song that really did an amazing job of opening my eyes or just putting me in a place where I myself was sinking deep in thought and the song was catchy on top of all of that.

The man knows how to write a hook, and the choruses are super memorable.

This was an excellent release from an artist that I have grown to be a bigger and bigger fan of as songs come out.

Definitely check this out and do it with headphones so you can really take in all of those lyrics.

Once you're done with that, I would suggest listening to some of Hilary's previously released material as well, because a lot of it shows different sides to how he writes his music and how he expresses himself through that.

Don't miss out on this one.
