A New Single From Hunch Power

A brand new single release from Hunch Power just dropped, and this track definitely features heavy-handed punk rock influence along with hints of alternative, and it all comes through with this theatrical undertone that you get quite addicted to.

"Accentuate The Negative" comes in with a sort of southern, almost Honky Tonk style guitar riff that bleeds right into the punk rock element, and the whole thing boasts a crazy energy right from the get-go.

The intro with is excellent and kind of gives a little bit of emphasis on some of the swagger of the track but of course, it goes straight into this punk rock vibe and in doing so you get thriving drums, that same riff that kind of plays into chords that are overlapping it, and the whole thing feels like a sort of 90s punk and alternative track.

The song itself boasts that electric style energy that is very infectious and vivacious; it has color but edginess balanced out damn near perfectly, and the track does have some depth to it in terms of its lyrics.

Now, certain people might perceive this track differently, but for me, I interpreted it as being steered in certain directions during your youth. Whether it has to do with people telling you what you can and can't do, having Society sort of aim you a certain way, or having people basically tell you what to do with your life or what your options are when in reality, they're far greater than that.

This is not a simple subject. This is something that a lot of youth struggle with, and it's not until you get older that you realize, schools, adults, and authority figures all created a world for you that you are supposed to fit into. The problem is it's their world and not yours.

The song comes with a music video, and throughout this video, they're playing in a school classroom, and during this, you see certain lyrics written on the blackboard, including lines about lies that you're told.

This, to me, solidifies the sentiment that I am thinking it's about. Just being taught certain things in school and then following along the lines that they have given you instead of taking your own path.

Again, this is how I interpreted the song. Others may take it in a little differently, but for me, everything was loud and clear, and I totally understood it because I can completely relate to it.

The drumming on this track is excellent. It's hard-hitting, super in the pocket, and helps drive this track and its energy in the right direction.

The check also boasts a great sort of bridge breakdown section where things slow down, and a lot of the sentiment comes through even stronger lyrically.

I love how they captured the whole aspect of being lied to instead of taking the risk that you should be taking, and were able to articulate that into words and music so well.

After that little bridge, it hits that chorus once again, and it's even bigger than before. It's the choruses that really have an anthemic style to them and that stick in your head.

I think the music video did a lot for this track. In terms of getting the lyrics to come through even clearer, the video was wonderful because they wrote some of those lyrics on that blackboard, and you can also see the energy of the band at the same time.

They definitely have a unique but very cool presence as a band, and that was showcased very well in the music video.

They also all have school uniforms on, so you can see different things written on the blackboard in particular shots. There are a lot of shots of the drummer that showcase a lot of the lyrics in the background on the Blackboard.

Those are like the Cliff Notes of the song. All the more intense messages that are coming across.

You seem to say things like "can't control your fate", "no risk, no glory", and " no safety net when falling", among plenty of others, and these are the heavy-handed messages that come through in the song itself.

So, for me, the music video did a lot in terms of grabbing onto their sentiment and holding on tight.

This was a massive, high-energy, really catchy, and powerful punk rock single that had an impact and came through with layers and depth to it.

I would definitely check this out as soon as you can. Again, the single has just dropped, and the video is available below for your viewing pleasure, so there's no excuse.

Jump right into this track as soon as you can and see what it does for you.
