Jenny Hallahan Breathes New Life Into Jazz Music
Jenny Hallahan and her quartet just released a beautifully performed neo-jazz EP that is completely laced with gorgeous melodies and lush with instrumentation and passion.
The This Life EP is a flowing and soft jazz record that touches on classic and new school styles and blends them into something quite special and gives you that New York in the winter time feeling.
The instruments fuse into each other and in true jazz form, the players feed off of each other's energies and create a wonderful world for you to step into.
This is a record that really speaks volumes for the genre and is comprised of seasoned players that have a chance to really shine throughout the EP's 5 track course.
Compositions are alive and breathing, there are plenty of hooks and a variety of influences coming through on each track.
With every song, there is a little flare that makes it stand out from the rest and there seems to be something refreshing about the whole thing really.
It's nice to hear such smooth precision and so much love for the craft go into this genre of music and songs can reach just outside the box of the norm which is also sweet.
The EP is warm, tasteful and gracefully performed all around.
You get moldies stuck in your head and find the record relaxing and gets you thinking.
We don;t get many jazz submissions and it's really outstanding to hear new material of the style and dome with such a colorful approach and youthful energy that lies just beneath the surface.
This Life was really addictive in multiple ways and if you are a fan of jazz music of almost any kind, you will absolutely love this record.
