The Music of Jerod Minnies

If you are unfamiliar with the music of Jerod Minnies, then let us be among the first to introduce you as the artist has just put out a video of a new track he's working on. The whole thing hits with such a slightly psychedelic and smooth contemporary rock and jazz undertone that you really can't escape its grasp.
"Memories" is a track that feels and sounds like something you've been listening to on various radio stations for the past few decades now, and its arrangement is beautifully done along with its incredible performances.
The video is a live performance done right there in the moment and on the spot.
Jerod wastes no time getting into the vibe of things and by sitting an aesthetic with full-bodied backing tracks that have a lot of keys and synths along with some beautiful blending of instrumentation during the live performance aspect of it.
The vocals are smooth during the calmer sections but also can be powerful other times and throughout the whole thing you get the feeling that this is most certainly not his first rodeo.
He's got a soulful and bountiful vocal approach and that soul and heart hits hard in all the right ways.
One of the things that blew me away about this piece of music and the live performance video was the simple fact that he's not only singing but he's also playing a wind instrument which I think is a clarinet and is performing live electric guitar and this is an astounding thing because there are parts of the song where he performs the clarinet, puts it down, picks that electric guitar right up and gives a crazy good solo.
His performance on all instruments in this song is incredible. They all have swagger, soul, and feeling.
This was a track that went places I didn't expect it to go but it felt great to listen to.
You can tell that Jerod is a live performer at heart although I can also say that I've now listened to plenty of his recorded material and it is outstanding.
You can listen to a series of his songs on his website which I've linked below and if you do you're going to get a good feel for how he performs and the way he writes music as an artist.
He's definitely a guitar player and singer first and foremost, and this really shines during his songs.
The way the artist performs on the guitar is just legendary and you can feel some of that southern undertone shining through in a lot of his material. He pulls off country, blues, rock, contemporary, and everything else you can think of in between.
This is an artist who creates without boundaries. There are no walls built around what he's doing and he's inspired by very classic and vintage style songwriting that he's able to put out there with the same aesthetic as all of those that influenced him.
Yes, "Memories" is the track you definitely need to hear and watch the video for because watching him pull this all off live on the spot is outstanding; however, going through his previous releases is also just an incredible thing to experience.
Even the songs that don't have videos for them feel like live performances right there on the spot. They put you there in the moment and give you an amazing feel for how he is as a performer in person.
Listening to all of his stuff is almost the same as seeing him live even though it's not.
No matter what song you're listening to, when it's over you just want to see him perform that same track right in person so you can feel those vibes even stronger.
This is a soulful performer. This is something that you don't come across often, especially these days so this is a very authentic and genuine musician, songwriter, and especially performer on multiple instruments and vocally.
I would definitely suggest checking this video out but then diving into his back catalog of music because you'll never get bored.
