Jill Desiree Drops a Lush Single
A new single release from Jill Desiree delivers a gorgeous flow and a building in intensity in the form of a jazzy soul-pop single that comes through with so much presence and character that you can't help but get attached almost immediately.
"Broken" is a single that a lot of us can relate to especially if we've been in different kinds of relationships before and the way that she puts it out there lyrically is pretty straightforward but with a little bit of metaphoric twist so that you understand exactly what she's saying even though she's not being exactly blunt about it.
This was such an understandable and well-performed single and it was packed with this sort of full-bodied instrumentation but what grabs you is the energy levels.
What I mean by this is the sheer fact that throughout the song you have the smooth soul and R&B feel, again, packed with that jazz tonality, and the song builds until it gets to this more intense climactic section and that's when she starts belting it out there.
What's great is that the entire group and musicians that she has on board for this track doing an outstanding job of helping to create that climax and that build-up because this track has some great keys, upright bass, and saxophone along with all kinds of amazing live percussion and drumming that bring this thing to life.
Everyone involved seems to be feeding off of each other so it almost feels like it was a song that was recorded live on the floor to an extent even though you're not sure if that's exactly how it went down.
Either way, the energy is electric and the way that these players worked together to create a song that was kind of alive and breathing was incredible.
The whole thing has a beautifully forward-moving flow to it and they all did a perfect job of again, raising those intensity levels right where they needed to go for the different sections of the song that got bigger.
The Jazz elements come in with those keys in that saxophone.
The saxophone is a super outstanding part of this song and it's a key element to the aesthetic of how it all came together. Apparently, the saxophonist Katisse Buckingham also had a huge hand in producing this track and I'm sure that he not only understood the vision for Jill but helped lead the way as well.
Again, to me it's the way that all these musicians came together to pull off something that was just electric and alive. You can't beat the energy of this track. Jill herself does such an incredible performance and you can hear those classic influences in her vocal approach.
You can also hear a ton of other influences as well so you know that she's pulling those Inspirations and those influences from different areas and it works wonders for this track because she pulls off a unique sound and style but again, it's just riddled with personality and that's what grabs you and pulls you in so quickly.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a super relatable song and it's about relationships. I'm not going to give everything away, but, if you listen to the song you'll understand exactly what she went for here and it's completely nailed from top to bottom.
Listening to the song makes me want to go see this whole ensemble performance live in my face because if this kind of energy was captured so brilliantly on record then seeing them live would be amazing.
This was a little vivacious, charismatic, soulful, a little sultry, honest, and very addictive.
I love the music video for this track as well because it also shows all these players sort of coming together to pull the track off and you can tell that each one of these people has a real love for their craft and that I think is really what makes it work so incredibly well.
Have a listen to this track and I suggest you do it by watching the video and maybe doing it with headphones on if you can't because it's one of the best ways to soak the song in.
Take a good listen to this and see what it does for you.
