A Spirited New Single from John DeNicola
A brand new single from Oscar-winning songwriter John DeNicola just dropped, and this is a track that comes through with a warm and almost vivacious kind of energy, lush with gorgeous instrumentation and displayed with color and vibrancy that becomes not just inviting, but infectious in a way.
One of the things that makes "Amen and Hallelujah" so welcoming is its energy and heart. This is a song that gives loads of personality and that warm feeling that wraps its arms around you and keeps you right where it wants to.
It's a spirited track. It's got gusto and love behind it all, which is something that comes gleaming through non-stop.
The track has a very robust feel and incorporates soul and funk in its backbone with great horn sections and some guitar work that displays that soul very well.
The vocal approach becomes bigger at the climactic points. During those choruses, there are bigger harmonies and higher impact, but during the verses, everything just feels authentic.
It's a song that certainly feels grateful and thankful for everything.
This is the vibe I'm getting from it. Others may take it differently, of course. For me, this is a song that is thankful from start to finish, and this is part of why it hits so well.
I also adore the fact that those horns are laying hooks down. It's been so long since I've heard musical hooks in songs.
It seems these days that, of course, is the main hook you get. This has always been the formula, and a great song always has a great chorus, of course; however, I miss musical hooks too. Hooks that are played by instruments and not just vocally.
Rock bands of the '70s did this a lot, and it exists pretty heavily in genres like funk or soul, which is why it works so well here.
Those horn sections are almost as memorable as the choruses themselves, and they are a part of them, but throughout the song, you get loads of these hooks coming in and out.
Those are the kinds of things that stick with you.
The song is obviously super danceable. It's hard not to dance to this track. The groove is completely infectious, as is the heart of the song.
You get some great guitar work throughout the track, and especially towards the end, you get a little bit of solo work that just feels fun and colorful.
This is the kind of song you can tell was well thought out in terms of its arrangement and composition, but let loose a little bit in the performance.
Bright and has a near-perfect energy to it that helps the sentiment of the song come through the way it was meant to.
It's a hand-in-the-air, sing-along kind of single, and it works wonders for your mood.
I can promise you this: if you listen to this track first thing in the morning, your move will be set for the day.
For me, it made me grateful for everything I had around me. Right at that moment, I had gratitude for just about everything.
This is what it did for me, so if you listen to it, you'll catch that same Vibe.
Now, if you're not familiar with John DeNicola, he has done some amazing work. The artist is likely most known for writing some very popular songs during the '80s, especially the two biggest tracks for the film Dirty Dancing.
I was obviously very excited to get this track because I grew up in the 80s and have two copies of Dirty Dancing. One on DVD and one on VHS.
Hearing a new track from such a memorable songwriter is amazing and it certainly didn't let me down.
As far as we can tell this is supposedly a glimpse of full album release coming a little bit later this summer and if it's got more stuff like this, I can't wait for it.
Maybe after he reads this he'll give me a little preview.
Either way, this track will certainly keep me at bay, and you should take some time to listen to it because it's well worth it.
A minute to absorb this positive and colorful energy. Take in the soul pop and enjoy its lush soundscape.
I certainly did.
Check this out now and keep an eye out for that album coming later this summer.
