The Youthful Pop-Rock Of Katelyn Lau
Katelyn Lau released a bright and alive pop rock single that beckons a youthful and almost 90's pop rock vibe complete with pop-punk undertones and an alternative edge.
"Somebody" is a pop song for sure and it's colorful style feels good to listen to as guitars rock out and drive the song under Lau's gorgeous and passionate vocal melodies and harmonies.
This single is relatable for many and sounds like it should be in a film montage as it's tonality fits the bill perfectly.
The artist's energy is just right and the track comes through vibrant and with a gusto that makes it feel like it came from someplace real.
"Somebody" is a debut single release that will be part of Lau's upcoming EP and we were lucky enough to hear the second and upcoming single from the EP called "Not Feelin' It" which sticks to that pop-rock formula she nails so well.
Most addicting is her vocal style and approach. It's so full and lush sounding when she harmonizes and lets her sound just wash around you.
The songs are light hearted but all do rock pretty hard at times with some killer bass tone and beautiful breakdowns.
There is power behind these tracks and they do feel like Summer songs for today's youth and it's almost like reading from a diary of sorts.
They are personal and upfront at the same time and it's clear Katelyn Lau has a love for her craft as it all has heart oozing from every note.
Keep a good look out for her next single and crank up "Somebody". You'll be sure to love this song.
