KEYS Return with a new single
A recent single release from KEYS delivers a bopping and colorful indie rock soundscape that comes with an addictive rhythm and Lush vocal harmonies that give it a little bit of an expansive undertone along with guitar riffs that are touched with reverb and wetness so the whole thing leans on a cross between garage and indie but also gives vibes of classic rock singles as well.
"There's No I In Teams" is really quite fun and ends up sticking with you for quite some time because it's got a lot of catchy hooks and elements to it plus, it's performed with a bit of a vibrancy and bounce that is completely memorable and has a groove to it that gets your body wanting to move and dance.
The guitar tones and even drum approach on this record all scream of a vintage almost 70 soundscape and that really comes through strongly as the aesthetic is completely nailed a lot of the time.
I love a song that blends rock subgenres the way that this one does and it's a quick little banger that sticks with you. It is only shortly over 2 minutes long and still manages to showcase the band's ability to put out a single that has a way of grabbing on to you.
I love the energy across the song as well because it feels almost like it could be a live performance and it makes you want to go see them play it right in your face for sure.
There's a lot of fun and added percussion throughout this track that lets that groove and rhythm really sink in and makes it even more danceable and there's a little bit of a looseness to it although everything is played super tight, the song has a bit of a fun and almost animated aspect to it that lets it feel a little bit freeing.
This was like a party song in a way and even the vocals are performed in different ways throughout the track as you have these surprises around some of the corners where they're these sort of super fun and colorful vocal sections that pop in and out and add that little hint of quirkiness to the song and looseness to the track.
It was certainly a lot of fun and upon listening to it I checked out some more from the bands back catalog and I'm glad I did because they do have a slew of releases dating all the way back to 2002 and all of them show a little bit of the evolution in terms of how they wrote and perform their songs.
Especially an album released in 2020 called Home Schooling which is an outstanding record all the way through.
I would definitely suggest checking out this single because this kind of introduces you to the band and how they do their thing and then maybe go backwards through their catalog to really get down and if you do this you'll be listening to their music almost all day and it's completely worth it.
Dive into this when you can and get your indie rock dancing shoes on.
