An Emotionally Driving New Single from Kramies
A gorgeous new single from Kramies brings out a lot of honesty, which lyrically is something that can be so intense that you need to listen to it a few times to soak everything in.
There are many layers to "Hollywood Signs", and the lyrics can be so descriptive at times that you can picture things in your head as the song unfolds, which is brilliant because you don't get that often.
This is a track that absolutely came from someplace very real, and it's the kind of song that feels almost cathartic for the artist to write and release. Or at least it would seem that way to me.
There's a lot he's getting off his chest, and the way he describes things is emotionally bound. He left all of that just spilled out for everyone to pick up on, and it's something that's structured in such a way that it's almost like watching a short film.
As the song is going, you're picturing all the different scenery, situations, discussions, and all the emotions are right there. Everything is emotionally just sitting right beneath the song's surface so that you can feel it in your bones.
It's kind of strange, but it's something that I feel like a lot of us can connect with because it's so relationship-based and so honest.
I feel like a lot of us have situations and struggles, emotions, and just things that we want to get off of our chests or express to ourselves or another person, but don't know exactly how to do that.
A lot of us don't know how to articulate those emotions and even grasp situations that come from memories, how we feel about certain things, and articulate those into words, let alone words and music.
That's why when we hear a song like this, it sort of speaks to us.
It's automatically connective.
Now, the music itself is gorgeous, as I mentioned at the beginning of the article. This has beautiful layers of textures going on throughout it, it's got strings, it's very lush, it feels semi-orchestrated, and to me, it's extremely cinematic.
The cinematic aspect comes from both the music and the lyrics of the song, and how they intertwine with each other and letting the emotion rise to the top in doing so.
It's done in a unique way and fashion, but it feels somewhat familiar as well.
I'm not sure exactly what I would call this, but it does take elements of Americana in a sense, singer-songwriter, elements of folk, contemporary pop, and a lot more.
This is the kind of song that lets us think or feel, and that's exactly what we need more of right now: songs like this. It tells a story, and I want more music that tells stories like this one does.
Vulnerable or say what it wants to. It's an example of a song that's built with fewer boundaries or walls built around it.
That is exactly what we need more of right now. Boundless music. Music that's made for the artist themselves because they need to do it.
The beauty of that is again, it feels so connective...so visual.
By the second half of the song, you have this additional set of instrumentation that's happening in a sense. There's this slide guitar floating through the background or ether of the track, giving it an almost haunting atmosphere, and again, this relates to the emotional backbone of the entire thing.
It helps build that intensity on an emotional level. I love this.
The whole thing has this sort of outside-the-box element of edginess. It's almost overwhelming in a sense.
The attention to detail was incredible. Just the way there are all of these textural layers put together to create an atmosphere that you get sucked into is brilliant.
You can really feel those areas of intensity when they come, and the song does indeed haunt in a particular way.
You definitely have to listen to it to understand what I mean, but I would suggest doing that by way of watching the music video, which is almost like a lyric video.
This way you can soak in the lyrics while you're listening to the music a lot better.
I also suggest doing this with headphones on simply because there's such a beautifully impactful aesthetic to the song and listening with headphones is just one of the best ways to take that in properly.
There's a lot to hold on to here so take a deep dive and swim through this one because it's certainly something you won't forget anytime soon.
