A Warming Single From Leo Sawikin
A new release from Leo Sawikin brings out a warm set of textures that come through with an emotional backbone and an almost cinematic undertone in the form of a subtle but impactful folk and contemporary pop single.
"Hold On" bears a good amount of soul and it's plenty of sweet spots in terms of showing character and expressing personal feelings all while managing to create something that feels stripped down but lush at the same time.
This track gets bigger as a place through and as that happens, you become more attached to it.
You can also tell that the artist has a true love for his craft which bleeds through in every note on this single.
There's definitely a lot of attention to detail and the production is spot on with a nice Sheen and polish to it but it never loses the heart that was the driving platform for the song to begin with.
I think that's a really important aspect when it comes to songwriters like this one. The delivery not just of the vocals, but of the instrumentation as well counts for a lot in terms of showing the passion for what you're doing and where the song came from.
You can never lose the meaning of the track through the production and the recording of it because when that happens the whole song sort of falls apart.
This of course is not the case with "Hold On" and I think that's because the premise of the song obviously comes from some true life experience so that authentic and genuine tonality is in everything throughout the song.
There's also a nice radio-friendly almost 90s radio feel to this as well which makes it welcoming and almost familiar in a way.
It does have a nostalgic vibe as well but that doesn't come from the production and it comes from the lyrics and how everything is portrayed.
The track has the ability to make memories of your own pop into your head throughout the course of the song and I think that's because it's relatable and understandable.
It's really nice to hear something that can connect in such a way and take effect like that.
There's also a great sort of vast undertone to this song and vocally feels very freeing as he hits some really great high notes and creates melodies that bounce around in your head for hours after the song has ended.
All in all, this is a really well-woven single that boasts pop-oriented tonality along with the folk.
Check this one out when you get a chance and it's going to be well worth your time especially if you're a fan of this kind of music because it's really done right.
