An Interview With Madelyn Victoria
We had a chance to sit down with artist Madelyn Victoria to talk about what makes her tick. Here's what happened!
Hi Madelyn! Thanks for being here today!
TSWS: Is there a song you would like to cover? If so, what song?
I’ve recently gotten into “Circles” by Post Malone and would love to do a country cover/version of it! The lyrics really hit home and I love the rhythm and bass. My family and I love to dance to it!
TSWS: What is your go-to karaoke song?
Wow, it’s been so long since I’ve sang karaoke.. but the last time I did I sang a Patsy Cline and Adele song... ok maybe I also did a little bit of “Ice Ice Baby” too!
TSWS: What music played in your home growing up? Does it influence your choices musically now?
My parents and relatives have a very diverse taste in music so I was influenced by many genres. We can go from jamming some Johnny Cash, to getting down on some James Brown! My dad introduced me to 90’s Country as well as some Tejano. Both my mom and dad also influenced me with 70s classic rock like the Eagles and America. I would definitely say that the bands and sounds I listened to growing up molded my sound today.
TSWS: If could be next-door neighbors with anybody, who would it be and why?
I would love to be next-door neighbors with George Strait, that would make it easier for me to send him my songs and hopefully have him sing some, hehe.
TSWS: Describe your style in two words...
I would say my style is a groovy honkytonk sound, with some soul and Spanish influences. Oh wait, that wasn't two words!
TSWS: What is inspiring you right now?
When doesn’t a heartache inspire a good song? Haha... but seriously, I have been really inspired lately by stories of hardship, and how people prevail in hard times. Since the pandemic early in the year, I have sought out the whole thing as something to use to my advantage, and use this time to meditate, pray, and create.
TSWS: What platforms are you most active on and how do our readers stay connected with you?
I am always scrolling through Instagram and love sharing and connecting with people through there!
