Another single release from Main Primate is quite a surprise and a pleasant one at that.
The new song is called "Settled Song (With You)" and it's a love song of sorts and incorporates some gorgeous instrumentation masking the song a bit anthemic and very cinematic.
You can see this song in the love scene montage of a film. Its got the building emotion and honest lyrics, acoustic guitar back bone and even banjo.
This track is a much cleaner and more stripped down style track from the group showing a whole different side of the songwriting they can pull off. And they pull it off well.
The song is moving and has a certain aesthetic behind it that makes it shine. Perhaps it's that emotionally driven feel.
What's great is that even with a heartfelt song like this one, you can still pick up on Main Primate's edge. It's in there, and it's great that it is.
It is absolutely terrific to have been reviewing this band and their releases over the past months and I can certainly say that the band has really surprised me in terms of the wide range and outside the box songwriting they do.
It's always such a head turner at first that I'm now becoming used to expecting the unexpected from a band and that is a wonderful feeling all together.
"Settled Song (With You)" is a warming song that really does shed some new light on Main Primate and how they operate.
They are free. A free band that does what they want. Write what they feel. Say what they need to. Let out what they want to.
