A New Single From Malibu Blackout Explores Their Desert Rock Roots
Consisting of Nashville Natives Cory Calvin, Chris Husak, Andy Blum, and David “Woody” Woods; Malibu Blackout formed in 2017 as musical brothers that’s artistic journey has spanned over 15 years and four indie rock bands around the Nashville music scene.
“Backseat Driver” explores the poppy, 2000's indie rock side of the band’s stylistic spectrum with reverb washed guitars, big vocals, and dance rhythms. The new single takes this brand of indie rock and pairs it with lyrics that reflect on dealing with illness and not wanting to be a burden, while trying to cherish each day. This track highlights the versatility of the band coming off their last two singles “Racing in the Dark” & “The Rack,” both of which explored more of their desert rock / psychedelic side.
