A Massive Pop Soiree from Martin Christiansen

The latest album release from Martin Christiansen delivers a flurry of pop overtones composed with a cinematic backbone and a natural knack for utilizing synthesizers to add drive and melody to songs in a way that feels almost completely natural, and in doing so, the artist builds atmospheres that wrap themselves around you and keep you right where they want to.

The album is called You be You, and the name of the game is massive pop sensibility blended with hints of edginess, loads of color, and bursting at the seams with character.

A lot of these tracks use brilliant synths and keys to create tones that are engaging and really fun. This is full of flavor and, for the most part, is insanely danceable almost the entire time.

I will admit that the synth tones used across this release are brilliant, as they shape the record while it unfolds.

Each track stands on its own two feet very well as a single, but listening to the whole record from start to finish really gives you a lot to chew on.

The record starts with "The Club", which definitely starts giving you that drive and pop motivation, with crazy energy, and high levels of intensity, followed by that colorful and almost bubbly approach, beautiful female vocals that come across with hints of swagger and radio-friendly polish, and glitchy production that shows a bit of experimental side but without losing that radio sensibility.

The single gives off a heavy-handed beat, which again, provides a lot of edginess for the soundscape, but overall is incredibly catchy and packed with hooks left and right.

There are moments throughout the record where you can even hear vintage sort of '80s pop influences shining through, especially with songs like "Stay with me Tonight".

Sounds like this gives you that classic '80s pop aesthetic and still provides deep-pocketed grooves and beats that push the song forward.

"Amok" gives you hints of dance pop and layers vocal melodies and harmonies on top of each other during chorus sections so that you have something very full-bodied and lush.

You can easily tell there was a lot of attention paid to the arrangements and compositions throughout this record. This is also to be said for those tones. The tones of the instruments and the aesthetic of how the songs come through were all well thought out.

You can tell this was a fun record to create. That sense of excitement is completely infectious right from the get-go.

One of my favorite songs on the record is called "ZZZombie"; this is mainly because it gives you something with a lot of builds. The percussion is really well done on this track and provides these almost classic house approaches that build up to climactic moments perfectly.

The artist wants you to dance. You're supposed to have a good time listening to the record because it's just laced with a brilliant pop approach and thought.

I do honestly feel like almost every single track on this record is radio-worthy. If you put this album on at a party, no one would be sitting down at all. Everyone would be on that dance floor. Most would be singing along by the last chorus of each song, and that spirit holds steady throughout the course of the record.

"Let It Burn" serves as the closing track to the album, and rightfully so. This track has a great edginess to it. There is an actual fire behind the song and its energy. It has an intensity that thrives in a sense.

This whole thing really hit hard exactly where it was meant to. All these moments were thought out, and so they were hit with precision. The momentum, the bills, those climactic and impactful choruses, all fit together like puzzle pieces.

Although you can choose any song from this record and get pulled right in, I once again would suggest listening to this record from beginning to end, all in one shot.

I'm not sure if a person's meant to handle that much pop in one sitting, but it certainly is a blast.

Check this one out now, don't be afraid to turn your way up, and dive into this endlessly fun and energetic soiree of pop right now.
