I'd love to talk about Max Weinman’s latest release, a self-titled album that highlights his talent as both a pianist and a storyteller. His piano performances are both wonderfully heartfelt, weaving contemporary style into each piece. The album’s blend of modern and classic influences really lets Max shine in a way that feels both fresh and familiar. It reminds me of the great piano-based singer-songwriters who came before him.
The songwriting on this album is exceptional, each track offering a glimpse into Max’s personal experiences and thoughts. He manages to create melodies that quite are beautiful. There’s a seamless connection between his lyrics and his piano playing also. Max's ability to merge storytelling with music is astrong point for this release without question.
A main single called "Julia," exemplifies everything Max does so well—delicate, intimate piano playing paired with his memorable lyrical phrasing. The song captures his detail, allowing listeners to get lost in the narrative which is kind of the point with songs of this nature. It’s a perfect example of the overall tone of the album, and it really helped me connect with Max’s performances.
"Julia was written during quite a tough time in my life, when a year and a half long relationship of mine had ended. All the lyrics featured in “Julia” were based on real events within that relationship, particularly in the second verse; “writing poems” at “6 in the morning” and “picking a flower” for her whilst vacationing in Flagstaff" - Max
If you haven’t already checked out this album, I highly recommend you do. It’s available now on Spotify and other streaming platforms, and I’m sure you’ll find yourself holding onto some of these songs. Max Weinman’s self-titled album is a beautiful piece of work.
