A Genuine Alt-Rock Aesthetic With Mind Cell
An album release from Mind Cell bleeds augmented and powerful riffs, desert rock undertones, and a hard hitting metal sound fused with melodic and and aggressive vocals and a hell of an addicting formula for songwriting.
The Absolute album comes off anthemic and unique with hooks that make you think twice and flowing vocal harmonies alongside some excellent time signatures that bring to mind bands like Tool at times.
These songs are brutal and a beautiful way and can really take you into a different world all together. You'll bang your head, jump around the room, and find yourself getting sucked into some deep metal grooves.
Lyrically the record seems personal and is completely full of surprises. There are songs that are incredibly poppy and laced with some gorgeous lead guitar work performed with heart.
There are plenty of points during the album that come off cinematic and inspirational but all in all this is a killer, fists in the air (and sometimes lighters in the air) hard rock record that touches on so many heavy handed influences to create something with its own atmosphere all together.
The singing has a way of haunting and swimming around you and can give the feeling of free falling.
There is a familiar and even nostalgic sound that comes through and just when you thought things were going to stay mellow, they explode into crushing, pulse pounding riffs again and all with sprinkles of outstanding hooks scattered about the ether of most songs.
Alice In Chains comes to mind and Mind Cell really packs a nearly perfect punch with just about every track on this album.
Dig deep into this one and you'll find layers to peel back and get down with.
For any fans of metal, alt-rock and hard rock, Mind Cell is 100% for you.
