"Popular Too" is it track that feels like it's about wanting to actually be popular. The need or want to fit in with a certain crowd.
The song focuses on wanting to be cool, especially during your youth, when you're looking for certain cliques to jump in with.
It doesn't matter if you're cool to everybody, but more that you're cool to the people that are immediately around you, and that's what makes you feel good.
This track expresses that sentiment super well and does it in such a fun way, but also incredibly relatable because we've all been there.
The guitar tone is amazing across the board. It's heavy-handed; the drums smash throughout this entire thing with a great production, as I mentioned earlier. The kick and snares from those drums cut through everything, giving the song a heavy-handed drive.
This sounds like so many of those classic punk rock songs I grew up listening to, and I absolutely love it for that. The track gave me bouts of nostalgia left and right, and this band was able to really capture a certain aesthetic that breeds and beckons late 90s and early 2000s pop punk perfectly.
The track has an accompanying music video that is a lot of fun and also showcases the band's actual character, presenting it very well.
It is high energy, just like the song, and gets you even more into the track.
It also expresses the sentiment of the song pretty well, and it was shot with such a great approach that it all makes perfect sense.
This was a banger of a single and really came through exactly the way it was meant to.
Having a real love for all kinds of punk, to be honest, I'm definitely going to be keeping my eye out for MONTE from here on out.
