The Smooth Contemporary Pop of Mt. Meru

The latest from MT. Meru is a beautifully woven Ep called ...To Be Seen Again.
The record is lush with layered acoustic and electric guitars, piano, and smooth and alluring vocal harmonies that seem to have the ability to wash you away with them.
There is certainly a contemporary pop undertone happening on this release that also brings to mind bands like Death Cab For Cutie, Nada Surf, and at times even Beach Boys comes to mind vocally.
This is a colorful EP that works with melodies bouncing off of each other constantly and it's all seamless and flowing.
The record does have a life of it's own and takes you for a bit of a musical journey of sorts and songs play out with a cinematic tone that sticks with you long after its end.
So much outstanding guitar work and as a whole everything sounds almost flawless and as technical as it sounds at times, it always feels heartfelt and genuine which is pretty impressive.
You can hear jazz sneak through musically during certain tracks and some emotionally charged progression changes that can make the hairs on your arms stand up straight.
This is a very impressive and clean record that can tell stories, paint pictures, and make you feel things well.
One of the most notable aspects is the vocal hooks of which there are more than you can count on two hands.
This was a powerful and graceful release and well worth digging into.
