An absolutely gorgeous new release from Natalia & This Lunar Mansion comes through with a unique and robust honesty in the form of songs that come through cinematic backbone and lush with a beautiful and graceful set of approaches and instrumentation that create an atmosphere the album ends up giving off.
The From Chaos to Joy album is set with such a beautiful array of instrumentation and these songs feel connected in certain ways almost like this is a concept album of sorts.
You have everything from keys, synths, guitars, horn sections, and strings, and some of these songs give such a wonderfully vast undertone that you feel like everything just has a way of wrapping itself around you and keeping you right where you want to.
Eventually, you also get washed away with these wonderful soundscapes and I really enjoy this because the whole thing served almost like an escape from my normal day-to-day life.
Some songs give off little elements of contemporary jazz, classical music, pop, and so much more all rolled into this one huge record that has so many outstanding textures and layers to deliver sonically.
There are even songs that have a sort of hard rock tonality to them so throughout the unfolding of this album you have a huge array of eclectic styles and songwriting but they all come together and the record sounds super confluent so this is an album that you should be listening to from beginning to the end.
If you listen to only one or two songs from this record you will get nowhere near the full spectrum of what the album has to offer as a whole.
A lot is going on. A lot of wonderful layers that can be peeled back and there's honesty to the point where Natalia gives off pieces of herself and some of these songs and I find that alluring.
There's definitely plenty of emotional drive behind a lot of these tracks, especially the more balanced style ones and this also brings back the whole cinematic undertone of the record because you can picture these songs in scenes of movies or TV shows because of that emotional approach.
A lot of these songs are performed with a huge passion and a soulful approach as well but again, you have songs that are way more upbeat, songs that are rock-based, songs that are pop-based, songs that are balanced, songs that are jazz undertones and so much more.
Energy and in terms of the style.
I find this amazing because of how many different styles there are on this record alone.
Natalia can change her character from song to song and in doing so, she tends to change her vocal approach in certain ways as well.
She's like a musical chameleon and I think that is super impressive because you don't come across that often.
Now, having said that, this is a record that will give you a lot to soak in so I would suggest doing so with headphones on so that you can pick up on all the notes that float around through some of the ethers of the tracks, some of the lyrical content that she's giving off and how personally can get, and everything else the record offers you.
This was robust, charismatic, fun, danceable, emotional, genuine, and honest, and had a gorgeous soundscape that felt amazing to listen to and can really pull you away from your surroundings and put you in a completely different place altogether.
This is something you don't get often so when you come across a record like this, you listen to the whole thing and see how it actually satiates you.
When I finished listening to this I felt refreshed because I came back to my reality again after it was over and it was like reading a good book or watching a good film.
Wonderfully woven from beginning to end, definitely listen to the From Chaos to Joy album from Natalia & This Lunar Mansion.
