An Interview With Natasha Jane Julian

We recently had a chance to talk with Natasha Jane Julian about her inspirations, her music, and more.

TSWS: Hi Natasha! Thanks for taking the time to chat with us!

My pleasure!

TSWS: What made you want to become a musician?

Natasha: Well, music was running through my soul since I can remember. It just made me happy. My mom played guitar, and always played around the campfire and at church. Then I joined the musical theatre in middle school and I knew I wanted perform and I was meant to do it. I was dancing, acting, and singing and I was in my zone. But I didn’t start writing until my twenties and I also learned to play piano around then too. All the pieces came together for me in the end, just not all at once.

TSWS: How do you feel the internet has impacted the music business?

Natasha: The internet has been good in the sense we can now reach a lot more people all around the world. We can build those relationships online and fans can get to know us by our posts not just attending a concert every now and then. But, with the good comes the bad of course. For instance, sometimes you can put a little too much out there where you are too exposed and don’t get any private moments. That can take a toll on you.

TSWS: What enjoy most about creating/making music?

Natasha: Love watching the development of a song. From just a spark of an idea to the finished product. My favourite part is the emotion put into a song.

TSWS: What sets your music apart from others? What makes it unique?

Natasha: I’d say that you can’t quite put your finger on it. That’s what I’ve been told at least. It’s not one or the other but rather a piece of a lot of different kinds of music. It’s melodic, but sometimes has a haunting vibe to it.

TSWS: Are there any musicians or artists, who inspire you? What qualities do you admire about them?

Natasha: Carol King, James Taylor, Coldplay, Chriistiina Perri… I admire the soul, the atmosphere they create, and the fact you can feel their message.

TSWS: What is the best piece of advice another artist ever gave you?

Natasha: Our work’s imperfection, can sometimes be the most perfect:-)

TSWS: Please tell our readers how they can stay up to date with you in 2021!
