Nerves Breaks Boundaries With "Empty"
A fresh release from Nerves brings up a gritty and attitude-riddled alternative rock and garage soundscape that hits with a particular energy and has a way of swaying and swelling so that the entire song feels alive and breathing all done with a mass amount of character and a fierceness that hits like a sucker punch.
"Empty" has a grueling undertone to it and comes through with a performance that feels like it's almost live because of the way that the players are feeding off of each other and the whole song is arranged in such a unique way that it lets it live outside the box and breeds a different kind of edginess than you're used to hearing.
A lot of this comes down to the production and the arrangement of the track which is quite genius and gives the song these added builds and bridges that deliver an impactful sonic presence.
The whole song has a sort of haunt to it and this gives it a theme and a certain kind of atmosphere that holds to that almost gothic underbelly, and I love how the song hits you because when it's over you almost have to start it again immediately because there was so much that just came at you in such a different format.
You get all these elements of super hard and heavy rock tonalities throughout this track and some of it makes you think of late 90s and early 2000s underground alternative rock with this Electric sort of energy that becomes so infectious you immediately want to search for more from this band.
This is uber creative and none of it was cookie-cutter whatsoever and I think that this is the way that heavy alternative rock is going to go and Nerves has the upper hand forgetting there ahead of time.
This track has some surprises around the corners and those are the kinds of attributes that blow you away when you first hear it. This is part of the reason why you want to listen to it again as soon as it ends.
You feel like you missed some stuff the first time around and believe me, you probably did because there are some layers here and the way that it's all built together is very forward-moving and progressive.
A lot about this track left me in awe and it just makes you want to see these guys live in your face because this is something that breeds a bit of a stepping-stone type of sound for the genre and that's saying a lot.
That's not the type of stuff that I say on a normal basis.
These guys are certainly pushing the envelope enough for you to take notice and it's got such an addictive crossing of approaches, genres, and styles that you want to soak this in with some headphones on.
The track releases tomorrow the 12th, and I will definitely be paying attention to these guys from here on out as should you.
