A Wild And Addicting Garage Rock Single from Peer Pleasure

If you are someone unfamiliar with the sounds of Peer Pleasure, then let us get you up to speed, as the band recently released a brand new single called "Rooms", which is a track that reaches into several rock approaches from an underground, almost 90s alternative pop rock, to a borderline theatrical feeling garage tonality, all done with this lively energy.

The single comes in with a sort of augmented guitar chord that's arpeggiated and sort of plucky, giving it an almost quirky effect right from the start. That riff becomes the song itself and is super addictive the longer you listen to it.

It's showcasing how these guys are standing apart from the norm, but also utilizing so many of their influences to create something that feels sort of robust and in your face in a strange way.

During these verses, you have this awesome time signature, and the drumming is amazing here because it really pushes that timing forward and makes it work perfectly. I feel like it wouldn't work as well if the drums weren't doing exactly what they did, but of course, they are, and it works amazingly.

Also, during these verses, you start to get a feel for the vocal approach, which is very animated and, again, very theatrical as well. They're excitable, boasting electric energy and such a thick laid character that you get a sense of excitement just from listening to it.

When the vocals start, they have a deeper tone and are calmer, but as the verses open up more and the song unfolds, they get more and more intense until the chorus hits.

This is where things really light up and start to explode into a more garage rock tone and fiery soundscape with heavy impact and a loose grunge underbelly.

The vocals become even more animated during these sections, and the entire band is just sort of thrashing out, still pushing this sort of augmented guitar approach, holding on to the quirkiness that it started with, and keeping it outside the box from what you would consider to be more normal.

You also have this great sort of wild synth sound happening that almost sounds like a Theremin, but not at the same time. It's a wild tone that only happens during those big choruses, and it's meant to add to the rambunctiousness of those sections of the track.

This absolutely works. The choruses and song itself, in a sense, are meant to be a little avant-garde. It's supposed to feel slightly scattered and very intense, which is definitely what happens, but it's also insanely fun, and it's almost not like a song you've heard before.

I definitely love bands that don't follow distinct norms. It's bands like Peer Pleasure that sort of stand out amongst the rest simply because they're writing songs with a sense of Freedom. They're not putting these particular walls around them or conforming to a particular genre or style. They're just doing their thing, the way they want to, and again, it's all influenced by some amazing stuff.

This is a total garage rock banger, but there are more layers and more things happening to it that give it added life.

For me, this was endlessly fun, it had color and edginess balanced perfectly, and the explosive parts did indeed hit with waves of intensity that hit the clothes fisted approach.

The song has a lot of punch.

This is a perfect example of a band that honed in on a sound that they can literally call their own. Again, yes, it is influenced by tons of other stuff, but they've changed and morphed those influences into something that is their own style in a sense. They create an aesthetic that feels refreshing and sort of infectious.

The song makes you want to jump around the room at those choruses.

I also love that vocal approach. I can't express that enough. The vocals are the character behind the song.

This was such a cool track that surprised me, and it's hard to get surprised these days, so, for me, this was absolutely excellent. I love listening to it loud so I can hear the lyrics and get wild with the song when the time comes.

Absolutely, check this out because it's great to hear something that feels fresh, different, exciting, and without those walls built around it.

Have a listen to this song right now to see exactly what I'm talking about.
