A Vinyl Release for Pop Music Fever Dream

11028-unnamed-6-1759516969728.jpg

If you're not too familiar with Pop Music Fever Dream, then now is a pretty damn good time to join the party because they recently released a four-track EP on vinyl via the Insecurity Hits label, and this record is endlessly fun, vivacious, edgy, colorful, and hits with a slightly rambunctious energy that becomes super addicting, super quickly.

The EP is called Songs For Emotion, and it doesn't waste too much time coming in with its first track, "Another Screen", which features a gritty, dirty bass guitar tone, driving drums, and bouncing guitars that really bring some of the brightness and color to this sort of garage pop entity of a group and the soundscape borders on a bunch of different approaches including post-punk, post-rock, loads of that garage tonality, and it almost theatrical underbelly that comes bursting out at any moment.

One of the things you learn about this band from this one track alone is that they're able to create massive sonic walls of sound whenever they want to. It also works perfectly because that's where those huge, impactful sections of intensity come thriving in, and it really helps the song pack a hell of a punch while remaining super fun and almost animated.

The vocals are where the theatrics come in. The vocals are actually the most animated aspect about them, robust, vibrant, and right in your face the entire time.

A lot of the guitar effects throughout the record are super fun and slightly experimental, utilizing some echo and delay effects to add some depth to the already lush-sounding sounds, and the drumming is outstanding throughout this entire thing. It's not just in the pocket; it's adding this liveliness to everything, and I feel like that's what the rest of the band sort of thrives off of in a sense.

The second track, "Elegy for Memory", hits with a much more vast undertone. It's a bit spacious, it has winding and wailing guitars, slamming drums, and comes through as a noisy but addictive

This is also a single that showcases plenty of experimental approaches on those guitars, and I feel like the guitar work on this record is a key element to what ties everything together and makes it work.

"Split" hits with a more aggressive tonality and approach, including a distortion and fuzz that is so intense it feels like it's almost peeking out on the recording itself. I love these kinds of elements because that's where the garage feels come in. It's almost a freeing sort of careless element to it that says we don't care how loud this comes through, we're going to push it out there, and it works perfectly for the aesthetic and the energy of the record.

The key thing with an EP like this one is that it gives you the sense of a live performance. It feels like you're right there watching them perform all these tracks in your face, and everyone there is feeding off of each other's energy by creating this gigantic ball of synergistic power that you grab onto and hold on for dear life.

Grungy feedback, massively fuzz tone, sonic presence, driving vocals, loads of fun effects, and songwriting that is outside the box and explosive.

These are all some of my favorite elements of this release, and I got addicted to the sounds that it delivered.

Now, this EP was released last year but is now dropping on vinyl via Insecurity Hits, and that availability just opened up today.

You will find links below where you can pick up the vinyl from them, and while you're doing that, you can check out some of their music videos, including one for my favorite track, "Another Screen", which is just below.

Definitely dig deep into this one because it's super fun and again, you'll be able to pick up the vinyl and check out more about the band at one of the links below the video.

This is a record created by a band who loves what they do, they're loose, they're fun, there are no boundaries built around this, and it's for anyone who loves great, strong, heavy-handed, fuzz tone garage rock and punk.

Do not miss this.
